My best friend just asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding in Chicago in October! I'm so excited. :D :bounce: :bounce:

I was happy for DH when he was asked to be a groomsman in the Orlando couple's wedding (which was moved to November, so no more conflict, we get to do both!), and now I get to be in the Chicago couple's wedding. :)

I'm looking forward to this fall/winter. :D

ooo - have fun!
is this your first time?

hope you get a "good bride" heheh. I REFUSE to be in my friends second wedding if she asks...she put me through such hell the FIRST time around!

Nope, but it's the first time in a long time. The last time I was a bridesmaid it was a junior bridesmaid and I was about 12 or 13. :)

I've been helping her with some of her wedding stuff already, so I don't think she'll be one of "those" brides. I think she'll be a good one. :)

Very cool!!!!! And congrats to your friend!

What day is the wedding, Rajah? I'm the maid (matron, but I refuse to be called that!!) of honor in my sister's wedding on Oct. 2 here in Chicago. She was being good at first, but now I'm seeing signs of Bridezilla:scared:

LOL, I was going to say the same thing!!!!

Tammi, I hope you do have a great time doing it!!!!! And I have to say Oct is a good month to get married :teeth:

I don't know whether to say congratulations or I'm sorry!

As much as I have enjoyed being in the weddings I was in, the last one (1997, my SIL's wedding) set us back quite a few bucks!

My bridesmaid gown alone cost $280. Alterations were $75. Shoes dyed to match, $49.99.

Oh...and my DH was in the wedding also, so we also had to rent his tux, and the groom wanted everyone to wear the same shoes (like the girls) so we rented those also!

Between the accessories and throwing her a shower, PLUS a wedding gift, I think we were close to a thousand dollars in the hole when all was said and done!

All in all, it can get pretty expensive, but the memories will last a life time!

Have fun planning!

I'm sending you some Pixie Dust in hopes your friend doesn't pick out ugly dresses for the bridesmaids. :teeth: I've been to plenty of weddings in my time and have seen some of the ugliest bridesmaids dresses on the planet. I know mine were lucky...the dresses were bought at a closeout bridal store, so they weren't expensive (around $99 for each dress), they got to pick their own shoes/accesories and the dresses weren't ugly. They were cute enough that they could be worn later to a formal or semiformal event like Senior Prom. :)
