I'm getting very concerned about the Poly......

I stayed @ poly cl,gv in may. I loved it. Out trip was not perfect. We ran into some rude CM's and an item that was to be in the room upon arrival, was not. I think every trip has it's snags.

I have to tell you that I loved the resort. The lush tropical feel. I got up before the rest of the gang to have my morning coffee in the CL while looking @ the lake and the castle. Just beautiful!!! We played 2ouch football on the beach while waiting for the fire works to start. When we got to hot we took a few steps to the pool for a swim. We watched the fireworks from the pool some nights and others from the lounge chair on the beach. We always had a plate of treats from the lounge. The lounge has a beautiful view with music. We prefer the beach/pool.

O'hanas was so much fun. I'm not a big meat eater but boy did I eat that night. I couldn't get enough. I enjoyed the overhead announcements reminding all that we were "cousins" and that the hula hoop / cocanut races were abut to begin. It was just so much fun. I also ate at Konas, the food was great.

I thought our room was fine. Not the grandest room that I've ever stayed in but the size was good. It was clean, quiet and on the second floor not far from the CL. It was wonderful to have the lights low and the sheets pulled back with chocolates on the pillows . Yes, I could have done this myself but I have to admit that it was really nice to have someone treating me for a change.

The monarail is right there. Never waited more than 5 min's or so for the buses. I just loved the boat ride to MK. It was so relaxing and beautiful.

I I know that for me the price of the resort is $$$$ I have to say that the beauty of the resort along with time we spent together as a family was priceless. I hope that you enjoy your trip. I think you will have a great time. Try not to worry. Just enjoy.:)

Keep in mind that every resort gets bad reviews! Personally, I think that the Polynesian is the best resort at WDW, at least so far.

Thanks for all the replies. Everyone raised some good points.

I think we will stick with the Poly and just go with the flow. We have the 5+2 package booked, so changing resorts may be more difficult than just a room ressie.

Thanks again..........

I won’t get into a big post about how much I like the Polynesian but I will say that every year that we go I see reports (8 out of 10 are great) and some talk about how bad of condition the resort is in and how bad the staff was and they got no towel animals (don’t get me started) and once I get there I see nothing that they described in their report.

I could list all the things the Polynesian has done to completely redo everything from the grounds to the rooms and you will see that most of the resort is only a few years old. I get tons of emails every day telling me how great the staff was and how they went out of their way to help them and lately everyone who emails me has told me that they were not sure about the Polynesian but now it is their favorite resort and they will not go anywhere else.

There is no guarantee you will love the place but it is not the rundown tacky place may try to describe it as and I would not be concerned with spending your trip there.

Have a great trip.

Aloha

Steve

We stayed GV concierge level July 4th weekend and everything was great. IT was so great in fact that my wife now says we wont stay anywhere but the poly!

Thanks for the input Steve (Tikiman). I've been completely through your site many times trying to get all the info I can on the Poly. I've wanted to stay there ever since I saw it for the first time in 1978. When DW said she wanted to go to WDW this summer, I told her the only way we were going, was if we stayed at the Poly in LVC...... so we booked it.

Reading what suddenly seemed like a rash of negative posts, I was getting a little nervous. I'm sure it will be everything I expect. We really don't need towel animals, we got one everynight when we were on the Magic in April.

I'm sure you'll let the rest of us DISers know if you find anything bad when you go next month. Have a great trip!!

Aloha,
Ed
