How is hip hop and rap not refined? Isn't rap like poetry?

Some of it isn't, but rock isn't much better nowadays? They can BOTH be about sex. And any artist in EITHER category that doesn't write songs about sex don't become famous. There are hip hop and rap artists out their that have deep meaningful songs that are amazing. Immortal Technique for example, he is so amazing! As is Bomani Armah aka D'Mite.

Why is there such a stigma against rap music on here when pop music and rock music are both just as trashy nowadays?

Why is whenever I say that I like one of these things some has to go "ahhh, you like _________, seriously?" or something along the lines. Why can't I, or anyone, just like what they want without being judged?

Don't you just want to act psychotic when people act like what you like is odd? (To give them something truly odd to think about). My cousin used to pretend to catch flies in her mouth and eat them when she wanted someone to back off. You're alright whatever your likes and dislikes. Pay them no mind.

It is the Spams fault.....when people see you like spam you fall in to a certain category. I feel your pain because I love spam also....I love it with Brown sugar and pineapple and even uncooked. This puts me in the "Are you kidding me" or the " are you serious" category also

If you remove the spam from your list others will just say...."really that's an interesting list you have there" I like some of those also....so remove the spam and you will be taken seriously again.

You know... I remember seeing a show (maybe on the Food Network) about Spam. Apparently it is huge in Hawaii. Well, my dad was born in Honolulu and a lot of my family on his side is from there although he's adopted so we're not 100% sure of what nationality he is... but maybe it's innate that I like it.

Although I haven't had it in 5 or 6 years... I'll only eat it when my step mom makes it.
