...need some cheering up!

I'm in Palm Beach County, and we just don't know what to expect. They say it will eventually turn north, but that could be after it makes landfall. Right now, they say landfall will likely be around Ft. Pierce...earlier today, it was Melbourne...it just keeps coming further south...closer to me!

My husband is taking it fairly lightly...I am feeling trapped and scared. I don't have my own car, so I can't go out for more supplies, and he's out and about.

Anyway, just looking for some diversion! I need a hug!

I am sending lots of prayers, pixie dust and hugs your way. I sure hope Jeanne decides to go a different way. I wish there was more that I could do, but I will keep you and all of your fellow Floridians in my prayers.

  I understand how you're feeling... You can only do so much preparing before you start goin crazy!!

  Hugs and prayers for you!! Think I better go get an update on that hurricane. :(

 I know how you feel...we just started trying to move boxes tonight since we know how little time we have with the weather tomorrow! It's insane!

I am in Palm Beach County as well, south PB county. We rode out Frances and were without power for a week. Hopefully that won't happen this time (but I know it will) :(

Aurora63 - I know they don't need it north of us but I pray it does go north of Palm Beach. Seems to be on same track as Frances - lets just hope she gets in and out quicker than Frances. I think the length of the storm last time is what made damage worse. Luckly we just had tree damage.

Thanks for they hugs and prayers we will need them. And to think I was supposed to be in Disney World RIGHT NOW!! Just crossing my fingers its beautiful Oct 9-12!! :Pinkbounc

I feel the same way as all of you other Floridians. :( Living in South Palm Beach County myself, I thought things were going to start getting better when I saw that Jeanne was a Tropical Depression over the Dominican Republic about a couple of weeks ago. Boy was I wrong!!! I'm just hoping that this one goes much faster that Frances did and the worst of the storm gets over with quick. :( I could use all of the good wishes I can get, because I certainly am terrified!!!!!!!! :earseek: :(

Is it November 30th yet!?!

We are in NW Broward, just South of Palm Beach county. We still have tree damage from Frances and I know that my neighbors will be upset and worried that the broken branches and the top of one of the trees will become missiles during the hurricane. I don't blame them because I'm worried too. I know that we are going to hear it tomorrow because one of them already asked me tonight if I could get somebody to take care of the trees. :( Like I haven't been trying to get this problem taken care of, she knows it too. I wish, more than anyone else, that these damn trees weren't an issue, but we can't do the work ourselves and the company that we hired (the only one that showed up to give us an estimate) is backed up. Surprise, surprise! We have called them twice this week asking them if they could squeeze us in before the storm, the owner says that they are removing trees off houses, so we aren't top priority.

I guess I'm just venting and rambling...:( If Jeanne comes this way, I hope it moves faster than Frances did.

RitaZ I feel the same way about the BIG pile of debris in our front yard. They were saying on the news you could bring it to a collection center - yeah right how am I going to get the whole pile (that will need a claw truck to pick up) and get it down there, or to secure it. There are big piles up and down our street. Lets just hope and pray they don't become those flying missles.

Prayers are being said for everyone (including me and my family) in Jeanne's path.

Aurora63~ I know exactly what you are feeling. That terror, that feeling of total loss of control over your life. It is bad enough to prepare for and live through one hurricane, but we here in Florida this year have been through ENOUGH already.

People who don't live in a an area where weather can threaten to take away all your material possessions and the safety of a place to call home can not possibly understand the fear that can grip some of us. I lived in New York most of my life and even though I can remember seeing stuff on tv about hurricanes, tornados, etc. it never felt "real" the way it does when it's you and your family in its path.

You board up your windows and you pray for the best. If told to evacuate, then do it. That's all anyone can do. Good luck and best wishes.

Im in NE Broward County and Im getting scared and panicky too. It wouldnt take much for us to get the brunt of this thing which they are now saying could strengthen to a Cat 3 or Cat 4 before it gets here. It just keeps sliding farther and farther south. Im trying to be strong and calm for my kids but my insides are shaking like there is no tomorrow. We were away during Frances....we got out of dodge. We just cant afford to this time BECAUSE of all the money that has gone out for all these storm supplies, hotel, etc... We have to sit it out here.

I am FURIOUS with one of our neighbors because he just brought home a trailer full of CRAP and parked it in his front yard. It was NOT there yesterday. That junk is gonna fly and we are right in its path because of where his house sits. WTH was this idiot thinking???? I swear if my house or cars are damaged by his junk Im going after him personally!!!! Im normally the sweet neighbor but NOT this time. Im not paying to have things repaired because he is an idiot.

lvs_eeyore I feel the same way as you - the neighbor accross the street has a toilet out on a pile by the road I swear if that toilet hits my house I am going to be SO mad!!

Its the waiting and not knowing what is going to happen or happening right then that makes it worse. My sister lives in a trailer in Boynton (just 1 city north of me) and I am in an evacuation area (east of Federal Hwy/US1 in Delray Beach) We rode out Frances here and thankfully we came through fine. I am just praying that nothing happens to my house or my sister's trailer.

I just hope we don't have ANY more of these storms I don't know if we can take any more!!

We are in Vero Beach in Indian River County. Our condo made it through Frances with no damage at all. Although we are just to the east of US1 and are on the evacuation list we are staying here. I'd rather ride it out with my own things in my own place.

There are only two apartments in our building (16 units) actually occupied by owners or renters, but this morning a caravan arrived from the barrier island. Three more units are now occupied by friends of the owners riding out the storm here. While there was construction in the development we had a sewage backup in our unit. I worry about that if the pumping station goes out.

I've gone through hurricanes, ice storms, and blizzards in New England so this can't be any worse. It does look like the eye is going to hit somewhere around Palm Beach. I don't know if that is good or bad for us.

I know how all of you feel....personally! Ivan scared me to death and when I returned home almost a week later and saw what he did, I was devasted and so saddened. I drove through a neighborhood last night that looks like someone went through and just blew everything up. Furniture, toilets, appliances, pictures, clothing, toys, everywhere! :sad1: :sad1:

I don't what else to say except be safe and leave if you can. DH and I travelled with 7 other people and all of us were so glad we left when we heard what so many went through who stayed.

Blessings to all of you,

Denise

Central Palm Beach County here. I can't believe we are going through this again!! The same day of the week, even the same time of day!!! I still have power....I am so excited about that! I dread the loss of power. With Francis, I lost power at 9:30am on that Saturday. I pray this turns and heads back out to sea or this county is going to get hammered.
The good news.....my insurance adjuster was coming this afternoon to assess damage from Francis. She cancelled and said they could claim the damage from Jeanne on the same claim as Francis so I will not have to pay two deductibles!:Pinkbounc
