Well, we just returned home from our 3 day weekend "home". This was our first stay at SSR, which is our home resort. We loved it. I won't say it is our favorite. Our favorite is either BCV or OKW, depending on if we want to be in the middle of the action, or we want to keep it "mellow", BUt we really enjoyed staying here.
All of the talk about it being too big is unfounded. We stayed in Congress Park. A walk to the Rock Springs Pool was just under 5 minutes. DW and I walked to the marketplace at DTD, and the walk from the bus stop in Congress Park, to the bus stop at The Marketplace, was under 8 minutes. We loved the pool at Rock Springs, and how you could fill up your own refillable mug. We found the bus service to be very regular. In fact, we felt the bus waits here were less than we had experienced at any other
DVC resorts. The rooms were clean (with a towel sheep awaiting us on check-in), and we had a beautiful view of DTD from our balcony. Saturday night, DW and I walked over to DTD for dinner, a little shopping, and a quiet walk back to our room at SSR, and it was probably the highlight of our weekend celebration of our anniversary (well, it was one of the highlights

). Mornings, we would have coffee on the balcony, watch the boat traffic on the lake, and watch DTD slowly wake up. It was very peaceful.
The only negatives about SSR that I can think of, are 1) the classical music that is playing all the time. I'm not into classical music, and the Jimmy Buffet music that is always playing at OKW really makes me feel like I'm on vacation, 2) there is no place close to get coffee in the morning. We loved how at BCV, it is a 1 minute walk to grab coffees in the morning. At BWV, OKW, and SSR, it is a long walk to get coffee at the Boardwalk Bakery, Goods to Go, or Artist's Pallette.
Sorry for being long winded, but aside from the minor issues above, we are looking forward to our next visit back to SSR.
