I'm Fiend'ing!

When we last visited the Fort in early December I knew it was going to be the last trip for a while. So I really soaked it all in. I watched the fireworks from the beach every night I could. I milked that drink station at TE for all it's worth... with my 4 year old mug, thank you very much. I cruised til cart wheels fell off. Took in the scenery. Luxuriated in hot tub. Soaked in the sounds and the atmosphere. All so that I might "be full and abound" in the magic of the Fort until next I return. Well, my next return is probably F&G 2011 at the earliest and here it's just 4 months since returning home and I'm already Fiending! If it weren't for Tony's pic of the day I'd probably already be on the road hitchhiking my way to the Fort! How am I gonna survive another year plus!?!?



And please, don't throw a magic-wand-waving smiley at me... I don't need pIxIe dUsT, I need a ressie and gas money!




Ok, I feel marginally better having got that off my chest. Thank God for guys like TCD, proudmomof4, Monique, Leslie and others who do great trip reports so I can live vicariously through them and break my funk... at least for a while (a long while in TCD's case).

I feel your pain! Our last trip was in May 09, and we won't be returning until March/April 2011 at the earliest.

I guess Im all kinda screwed up....all the great pics and trip reports and "nearly illeagal" adventures just make me fiend even more....Im in a serious fiend-out right now too.....completely stir crazy!!! I have one more month till I meet with a few fiends at Lake Guntersville for the FRANK & FIENDS..that will hold me for a while! We'll toast a few to you Shan. I KNOW this doesnt help YOU any...but it makes ME feel a little better!!!

Shan, it's 6 months until we return and that's killing me as it is. I can feel at least a modicum of your pain. Once we finally DO get back to the Fort, I promise to do my best to take loads of pics and put together a decent TR to try and help tied you over...at least a little.

In the meantime I'll keep hoping that the stars align so you can get back sooner than later!

I'm in a tough spot myself. We have October ressies but I will almost certainly be cancelling those. With the prospect of taking two trips to Russia this year and the cost of our adoption, a Fort trip is just not gonna happen again this year...and maybe not next year. This is the first time since late 2006 we haven't had the date of our next trip set and booked. It's pretty depressing!

But, like Rog, I'm looking forward to the Guntersville GG....or the Triple G!

The best part of living in Florida is being so close to the fort. We have 4 trips booked this year and will be able to hit the MNSSHP again and for the first time the Mickeys x-mas party. I could not imagine having to tow so far away for some of you. We are very lucky

Well just rub it in. Its ok we try to go every 10 to 14 months.

It looks like fuel will be going up to the $4 mark or more again, it might just put a cramp in a lot of peoples plans.

I hear you loud and clear. I thought we'd be going this fall, but unless some major magic happens with the current project I'm working on...it ain't gonna happen until fall 2011. I waffle between thinking about WDW/Fort all the time (hard not to -- one of my big projects is ABOUT Disney World!) and putting on the blinders and not thinking about how far away it is.

Every time I'm on I-95, I think, "I could just keep going and be there by 8:00..." Sigh.

Wow - I just found this thread and can't believe I am grouped in such good company with the likes of TCD and others with such great reports. (I'm guessing I'm that Leslie??) And, I have to say that I feel your pain. I hope this isn't the case, but it's actually possible that it will be Spring Break 2012 before I make it back. I'm crossing my fingers for a different schedule, but there definitely is no trip on the horizon right now.

Anyway, I understand where you're coming from and miss the Fort on a daily basis too.

Renting from CampattheFort starts to make a lot more sense, even for an RV owner, with gas prices near $4. At least for those of us driving 1200 miles or more. The break-even for me at $4 and 7mpg is 6 days, which means on a longer stay it would be cheaper to bring my own moho... but Tina's 5'er is also nicer, so it's worth a bit of a premium. Something to really consider as fuel prices climb.

Of course you're THAT Leslie! LOL! You do GREAT trip reports, and y'all are beautiful people to boot. A lot better than having to look at that TCD-guy! I'm very disappointed to hear I might be doing another TR before you... you were supposed to help get me through my time in the desert! Forsooth!

It's good to commiserate with so many other 'poor, unfortunate souls'... well, everybody but that starbuc71 character! But everybody knows how much I hate locals [that's an inside joke folks, don't mistake envy for hatred]

"EXPERT" on the news just said he would be surprised if gas stops at $5. If this is the case then the economy will crash again. On a better note we are only 560 days from returning to the Fort.

I've never lived more than 90 minutes from the Fort. 90 minutes was too far, so I moved 30 minutes from the Fort. I'm now looking at a mobile home park 5 miles from the Fort. (Well - just because I am doesn't mean my DH is.)
