I took my son to walk around his highschool to get familiar with the classrooms. One, I can't believe I am old enough to have a son in highschool, even though I am and I do. Two, its MY old highschool and I saw my old lockers and classrooms and I just can't believe how old it all made me feel.
I was the class of 1987 and the last time I walked those halls I was a young girl of just 17 when I graduated. I can't believe that it all hit me like a ton of bricks. Anyone else have a similar experience?

My dd starts high school this year as well. Unfortunately, this hit me even earlier because they made my old high school into her junior high and built a big, fancy, new h.s. So, I walked down memory lane when she was in junior high. :teeth:

Yes, I can totally relate! Gosh, wasn't I just in high school? :) And wait until they enter college--it's even worse :scared1:

You're still a child!

My son came home after the first day and said, "I can't believe I'm going to the same Middle School you went to!" It was my first school here and I only went there for 8th grade - but that was way back in 1972.

My daughter isn't going to my high school since they built and new one a few years ago. However, I feel old when she tells me who her teachers are and I realize they're people I used to babysit for! :teeth:

I've got awhile to go but my kids will go to my high school as well :) This year my son is going into 2nd grade - his teacher is a gril I graduated with - even though I graduated in 1988 - it just feels WRONG that somebody my age is a teacher. I was telling my DH that although I know her personality is fantastic and will be a great match for my child, I wasn't sure if I wanted somebody that "young" for his teacher because he needs a lot of attention - that's when DH not too delicately pointed out that I am 36 - most people consider a 36 year old teacher that has been a teacher for 13 years to not be "new" and young. Yeah yeah - rub it in!

I am in MASSIVE denial over my age can you tell???

Yep.. my kids go to my ol school. I graduated HS in 1992. My son would of been starting his freshman year but we held him back when he was younger.

My kids will not go to my high schoo. Different state. But, my DD13 has high school orientation tomorrow morning and they start on Monday. I feel old.

I graduated HS in 1979. Two years ago my daughter was going to the intermediate school which was the high school when I graduated. We had a parent teacher conference in one of my old classrooms. The part that really made me feel old was that the last time I was in that room (1979) my daughters teacher had not yet been born!

Wait until they drive........then you're really old. Even worse is when they
start college. I have a son in college that went to my old high school and had some same teachers and today I went to orientation w/ my middle son to start middle school (my old one) and next week I go to kindgergarten orientation w/ my youngest. But really when they drive makes you feel
the oldest( and the most scared....welcome to alot of sleepless nights)

:lmao: :rotfl2: I lived at home until I got married - at age 26 - so DF(now DH for 10 years!) and I could save money for a house.

Up until the night before my wedding I HAD to go into my mother's bedroom and wake her up to let her know that I had gotten home safetly from wherever I was :) God help me if I forgot one time or didn't waker her up ENOUGH so she would remember I had gotten home.... :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

No kidding I am sitting here -- daughter just left to go out for coffee with some friends :coffee:(she is 17 for goodness sake!) Hubby and I are firmly planted to our chairs as we try to stay awake! He is playing a puter game and of course you know what I am doing :lmao:

I am amazed whenever we go to Meet the Creature night (ok ok Teacher :teacher:)That most of the teachers are at least 10 years younger than us. Then they proceed to tell us about our kids like we don't know them. Every year since Kindergarden we have been told that Emily is too quiet and needs to speak up. Every year we say, yes she is quiet even at home sometimes. She knows the stuff, ask her just don't expect her to offer it. This year I lost it with a few :guilty: YES I KNOW SHE IS QUIET before you even tell us we know! She has never and more than likely won't now (she is in grade 12) change. One teacher then had the nerve to tell us that he sees more of her than we do so maybe he can offer some suggestions. Nope thanks anyway oh and look at the time ... gotta see next teach. UHM spends more time with her? She is 17 -- I stay at home she rarely sleeps.. so lets see oh yeah don't forget you get summer off. AND our highschool is on semester system so he only had her for 4 months. Time to step offa my soap box and get ready to be clobbered by the teachers in our midst. Just talking bout one in specific.

My oldest DS and I had a few of the same middle school teachers.

Funny, both our favorite teacher in middle school was the same man.

I still see this teacher from time to time at local stores, he always hugs me, asks about my Dad (he was a teacher at the middle school too), then comments how my son was one of his favorite students: bright, so willing to learn, sensitive and caring. :thumbsup2

When I went to open house/meet the teachers that year my son got him, I felt old. It was funny, when he spotted me sitting in the room with all those other parents, he stopped his "What I expect from the students this year" speech, came over gave me a big hug, and told everyone I was one of his best students he ever had.

I know how y'all feel. One of my old teachers in high school is the vice principal at my daughter's high school. And, he just loves teasing her, especially now he knows who her mother is.;)

You think you fell old now. My daughter told me last week she will be an adjunct professor at a college this year. Yikes where is my baby girl? She will be teaching classes and be assistant conductor of the college symphony. And she will also be playing in a professional orchestra again this year.
