My Dad was a very impatient person who hated lines. We were there by 10 and out by 4. I remember going and riding three total rides: the sub, the indy cars, and its a small world. In addition we watched a movie on a screen that made a complete circle. Now I stay till the end. During Thanksgiving week we were getting back to the hotel at 1 a.m.

I loved my dad dearly but he was a power-park person who saw no reason to slow down inbetween major attractions. We started going in the days when you bought the ticket book and we literally ran from one e-ticket ride to the next. If we had time for the d and c tickets we did those too but never slowed down for any of the little things that I love so much today.
He pulled out the map and would have had us go over buildings and through the moats if he could have to get to an attraction faster.
Once he got much older he learned to slow down and savor things more. It was funny to hear him say how he never saw this or that before.
I do love WDW more now than ever. Staying on property has a lot to do with it but also knowing that we can have a great time just taking it as it comes.

I feel the same way! My dad use to take us and we'd stay off site, drive 20 minutes to get to MK and wander the park aimlessly trying to find rides with the shortest line ... It didn't happen since it was August and we'd usually show up after 12PM. He was also stingy with the souveniers :(

Now when I go, I stay on-site, use fastpasses and get whatever souveniers I want :teeth: And... I don't go during August since I find the combination of heat/humidity and lines to be a bit much.

I enjoy Disney more now because I look at things differently. I try to see things thru my grandchilds eyes. I guess though I may be going thru my second childhood along with him. So let your inner child come out when you are at Disney. I have found the fountain of youth. :wizard:
