I was just in DL in May, with my kids, but also with lots and lots of in-laws! I enjoyed it, but would love to go back without all the excess baggage! I wasn't planning a trip anytime soon, UNTIL the Miley party was announced. Dd8 is freaking out about it. I was going to show her that it was sold out, but when I clicked on the link I found out is wasn't. So now, she is begging, and I'd love to go, too.

Priceline has a good deal on plane tickets and a room Anaheim Days Inn Disneyland/West (around $400 a person for 3 nights plus round trip airline tickets.)

Any thoughts on the location (how close to DL) and price?

Well, how many nights are you staying?

Orbitz has rooms at that hotel for around $50 a night.

It is NOT within walking distance to the park, as far as I can tell. But if you drive to the park it's right by the mickey and friends parking structure.

Where are you flying from? Airline prices vary greatly depending upon where you're coming from so I don't know if what you're getting is a good deal or not.

3 nights, from MS.

The site says steps from the Mickey parking lot, and 1/2 block from the parks. I was assuming we could walk in the mornings-don't plan to drive (small town girl). It also says it has a free airport shuttle.

I'm looking on Orbitz now (never used any of these sites before). Which airport is closest to DL? In May, dh's aunt arranged for everything. We flew into John Wayne, and she picked us up.

John Wayne (airport code SNA) is the closest. And it's the one we always choose to fly to, even if it isn't the cheapest.

I suppose you could probably walk to the mickey and friends lot and get on the tram but I'm not sure if there's a sidewalk or anything. Most people choose to stay on Harbor because you can basically walk right in without having to take a tram or anything.

We almost always book our plane, hotel, and rental car on orbitz.com or expedia.com. Although you can sometimes get discounts booking through other places, or so I've heard.

Thanks for the help. I've managed to talk us out of this trip! After stating that it was 1/2 block from the park on priceline, the official website says 1.9 miles-not quite walking distance.:rotfl: Dh didn't want us to go anyway, and we already have a WDW trip planned for July. Dd8 says she understands tonight-tomorrow may be a different story! But she'll be ok.

I'd think the price of the birthday party tickets would have been the breaking point...haha.

Ah I see, you say that you are driving yourself crazy? hmm, very interesting, now please tell me, exactly what are you driving? I personally love sports cars, especially convertibles. ;) he he!

Not sure if you are still wanting to be talked into the trip but...

From this Days Inn, you can very simply walk to the Mickey and Friends p-structure (as you noted) and then just take the tram into the Park with everyone. It's very simple.

Also, I am not sure on the exact distance, but according to Mapquest, the Days Inn is less than 1 mile from DL.

I'd say it's definitely do-able if you want to do it.

I would LOVE to do this, but dh isn't real thrilled, and we don't have tons of money lying around. Dd8 was begging and crying yesterday, but seems ok with it today. I love Disney so much, it doesn't take much to talk me into a trip! And I know we'd see stars all over the place. But $3000 (more than I make in a month) for one weekend (and I'd have to miss a day of work) is extreme.

It is so tempting though!

I never had much growing up, and never went anywhere, so I try to do more for my kids. But I think I'm going to have to pass this one up!

I'd skip the party. For that money you could spend a lengthy trip at Disneyland or WDW. I think that would be money better spent (for me, anyway.)

I know. I took the kids last year for Thanksgiving to WDW for 7 days, 6 nights, dining plan, flights, and MVMCP (Friday night before Thanksgiving) for around $2300. And dh has agreed to come with us next year for the 1st time, if we stay offsite and he can golf instead of doing the parks! I'm just going to save up for a great trip next year!
