I'm done, stick a fork in me

You know what they say . . . be careful what you ask for. :worship:

But, on the bright side and as others have said, DVC's not going anywhere and you can always rent points!! :thumbsup2

Make sure you don't ask God for a sign when you are in an open field!

Anyway, I am sorry to hear about your AC. But you know what you want now, so you have something to look forward to. In the meantime the POP
resorts sounds good to me, too.

AC? Here in CT as of March 1 we still have snow on the ground, have not see grass since Christmas. Wont use AC till June. But the cost of oil for heating? You don't want to know.

There will always be another time to buy so fix the AC now and your Guardian angel will guide you along.

Oh no!!! I guess 2011 just isn't the right time for you but I know how much work you have gone through in making the decision.

I guess you could look at the bright side and say that it will give you time and maybe, just maybe, next year, the prices for the resorts will be even better, or that perfect contract will show up.

As we have talked, things happen the way they are supposed to and right now, your journey to DVC just needs a little more time. We thought about it for years, but never took the plunge because we were just not sure we would like any other resorts since CR was our favorite. And, look what happened--BLT was built and that was all she wrote!

Thanks everybody. The AC (AIR CONDITIONER!) is being installed today. My DH and DD both have allergy issues so we're also adding a whole-home filtration system so that's why the price is high.

Sorry I forgot that not everyone lives in 90+ degree heat with 90% humidity...and requires an air conditioner. They don't even sell vehicles here with AC because no one would buy them. I visited a friend in Colorado last July and she informed me right before my flight was leaving that her home doesn't have air conditioning and I about had a heart attack! But it wasn't that bad. The evenings were like our Novembers so it was comfortable.

I dislike the heat which is why I have NO desire to go to WDW in the Summer. October and March are my favorite times. It's warm during the day and cool at night.

I'm feeling more at peace over this situation now. Although I saw a beautiful SSR contract on Fidelity's site yesterday. 130 points, Oct UY (the UY I want) with 260 points for 2010 and it's listed at $60 per point. *sigh* Hopefully, I can find something like that next year.

I was able to rent 3 nights in a value studio at AKV (which is cheaper than Pop) for our October trip so think I will do a split stay and try for 3 nights in a 1BR at SSR. This will definitely give my DH the DVC experience and should help him see what we're missing out on. Fortunately, I have a great hubby who knows I am frugal with how I spend our money so he's ok with giving me free reign. But it would still be more fun if he were excited about it too.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement. I really enjoy being here so I'll probably continue to hang out and share whatever knowledge I've picked up along the way.

Good decision to get the AC done right away and let DVC wait until the time is right for you.

:grouphug: Keep the faith, it will happen when the time is right. I remember about 6 years ago (due to unemployment), I was wondering if we'd ever get back to Disney for a vacation. DVC was the furthest thing from my mind. And here we are owners now. IT WILL HAPPEN. Glad to hear you are renting points. I think that is an excellent option to stay connected with DVC. Please don't go away from the DVC Boards, you have been a great contributor!

For the past 2 months, I've been on this forum almost every day...reading, studying, contemplating, calculating, etc. I probably crossed over into the OCD level of it. I've been driving poor Sandisw crazy with my up and down saga, through PM's. Well, except that she has the patience of a saint...so she's been kind to me.

Deciding I want to buy into DVC, then two weeks later they make this big announcement, then trying to find the perfect contract for the UY I want in the middle of a shift from being a buyer's market to being a seller's market was kind stressful. Heck, if I got paid for the amount of effort I've put into my time researching this, I'd be well off right now!!

Finally got an accepted offer on a nice OKW contract and was about to sign the paperwork. Still wasn't feeling complete peace about it so I decided to pray. I asked God to show me a sign if this isn't something I'm supposed to do.

Then...yesterday, my AC died. Gonna cost about what I was willing to pay for a DVC contract. I definitely can't afford both so I'm glad this happened before I signed the contract.

But now I'm super :sad1:. No DVC for me this year. :sad1: Hopefully next year will be my year. DH likes staying at Pop and loves their food court so he wasn't fully on board with the DVC thing anyway. Maybe another year in a value resort will be enough to win him over to the kitchen, laundry, bigger bed, separate room and themed pools with slides.

I'm feeling so  over this but I know it's the right thing. I did ask God for a sign. :)

Good luck to everyone trying to get in before the 3/20 deadline. I wish you all great success. I'll still be around on the forum. But I won't be in the "almost ready to buy" mode.
At least this happened before you bought and not after. This is one of the very reasons I've preached for people not to finance and not to stretch themselves for such a purchase.

We'll leave the DVC light on for you..

I LOVE this quote!

Sorry that it fell through for you,but you're not alone... there seem to be a lot of us who have had to hold off because the time just wasn't right,

I absolutely agree that you made a good decision to rent some points......
great way to get ahem "others" in the family excited about DVC!
nudge nudge wink wink!

If you're as fiscally responsible as you say, I have no doubt that we will see you listed as passing ROFR in the not too distant future!!

Until then, as Coach81 said, the light is on!

Figment, so sorry to hear about you not being able to buy your contract at OKW. I really appreciate the wealth of knowledge you have shared. Good luck with making your dream come true in the future.

 Sorry for you...but at least you still get to go to disney in October!!

Try not to sweat it (sorry I just couldn't resist) ... perhaps now is not the right time!

I'm in a similar boat ... but where I live (Canada) AC is not an issue - :lmao: - it's usually a furnace thing. :scared1:

Good luck in the future - take the sign as good thing ... perhpas the resale prices will drop when you're ready to get in!

Have a little faith.

Cheers,
