So, many of you have read my posts about my undiagnosed symptoms and probably requiring an ECV on my Jan trip...

Well, today I FINALLY found out what's wrong with me  :cool1:

I have Lyme disease AND mono :scared1: :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

The title of the post refers to DBF's response to the news ("you're diseased!" was his sympathetic reply :lmao: )

I don't think anyone has ever been so happy to hear that in their life, but the diagnosis could have been worse :thumbsup2

The antibiotics should get rid of the Lyme disease and the Mono will just take time but without the pain, I'll be a happy camper.

I'm mad at all the doctors who told me since SEPTEMBER that it was psychological and that I am perfectly healthy. I wish I could sue them for stupidity (or at least get an apology ;) ).

Just had to share my "good news"

I am happy for you! Congratualtions! I know how ticked you are that you had to go through what you did...But, what a relief it must be...to finally know what is wrong...and to be able to treat it!!! :thumbsup2 :grouphug:

It is good to have a diagnoses, especially since you know that both can be fairly easily cured.

That is great it! My sister had a tick in her ear she removed it. She waited too long and her ear was swollen to finally she went to the Doctor and he treated her for Lymes Disease anyway.

Congratulations on the diagnosis. It is hard to know you have something wrong but do not have proof. I hope you get well soon .

:woohoo: I am so glad that you found out what is going on. I know exactly how you feel. I just got properly diagnosed for a back injury I received in May and the treatment wasn't working........doing the opposite of what it should have ;) and as a bonus No surgery needed:goodvibes

All my family have been asking for weeks what I want for Christmas and all I could say was "I want my life back" and even though I am not pain free, we know what to do for it and I could be pack to work in 3 months. I feel like I do have my life back.

Best wishes for your recovery :santa:

Congratulations on the diagnosis!! Grrrr to the stupid doctors who just guessed. I hate it when medical proffesionals do that (my worst of these was actually with an evil physio man, but that's another story). Keep us posted on how you're doing and I hope you have a speedy recovery! :thumbsup2

I am glad you have an answer. We felt that with DH arthritis. It isn't Lupus or rheumatoid.

I am diabetic on insulin and pills. For two years, I started to decline...but, I figured it was because of the "genes"...My muscles began to hurt...badly...at first...We thought it was the Lipitor...but, it wasn't...After awhile...I had trouble getting in and out of a chair....I swell anyway..but, the swelling got worse...My hair began to thin out more..I accepted that...One of my grandmothers had thin hair...I couldn't catch my breath...Then, my heart started skipping a beat...Frankly, I thought "this was it"...(I also had horrific sinus problems all of a sudden...)...Finally, I looked on line to see if maybe one of the medications I was taking could possibly be causing some of these symptoms..I looked on a people's forum...all about the diabtic medication I was taking....I was shocked when I saw my symptoms on it...and told my doctor...He took me off the one medication...Within less than a month...I felt so much better..I am really out of shape after "going down hill" for all that time...but, what a relief it is to find out it was the medication more than it was me! :)

I don't have Lyme disease, but I do have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

I've just completed a year's worth of antibiotic treatment once a month (for chronic bronchitis). I feel better than I have in years!

I am at WDW and have not needed an ECV this trip. It's like a miracle.

Hope your treatment works as well.

I know it is a relief to have a diagnosis. Also good it is easily treated. I got my most recent diagnosis of degenerative disk disease and it isn't that easy to fix but at least I know why my legs go numb now. Add that to type 1 diabetes, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis and neurofibromatosis and I sometimes wonder if I'm not falling apart :) Oh well I am still able to work and enjoy Disney so that is all that really matters.

My parent's neighbor's daughter (OK, that's a mouthful but it's basically the girl I grew up across the street from except neither of us lives with our parents anymore)...was experiencing some weird symptoms for almost a year. She was tired all the time and felt like she was going to pass out. She was afraid to drive and wouldn't take a shower unless someone was in the bedroom and could hear if she fell. Her doctor did tons of tests and couldn't find anything wrong with her. They were ready to go with a diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome when they decided to do one more test - for Lyme disease. Well, that's exactly what she had! She was thrilled that she could be treated with antibiotics and that her condition would eventually go away.

I'm glad you got a diagnosis and that you will feel better soon!!!:)

Good news and at last you know and can get on with things now:goodvibes

Glad to hear you finally have a diagnosis and hope you are feeling better soon!

How are you feeling now Forevryoung? We haven't heard from you....

I'm feeling 100x better- no more pain :thumbsup2

Thanks for thinking of me. It's finals week. My thesis is due along with a project or paper for every other class due Wednesday...

Thesis is printed and bound- "The Effects of Augmentative and Alternative Communication Intervention on Language Development: A Case Study of a Young Child with Down Syndrome" :woohoo: 76 pages :rolleyes1

I'm so close to done I can taste it (we have an externship in the spring, no classes) and each day closer to my celebration trip!!! (First I have to pack up my entire apartment, load it up in a truck, and drive back to NY! )

Yay! :woohoo: :dance3: :cheer2:

I'm so glad you're feeling so much better!

Well done with the thesis, it sounds really interesting. It sounds like you're studying a fairly similar subject to my mother. She's recently re-entered the education system to study learning disabilities in adults and young adults.

Good luck with the last bit of the thesis and congratulations on the improved health! :goodvibes
