Hi Everyone,
I have been admiring all of your creative scrapbook layouts and designs and was just wondering--where do you get all your photos? Do the majority of you have photo printers at home or do you have them printed out ahead of time like at Walmart? I was just curious because I usually order prints from shutterfly and only order maybe 4-5 times a year, so I really have to plan ahead for what I want (or intend to be used) for scrapbooking. It just seems like with all these scrapbooking challenges and with the quantity of pages you guys make, you must have a lot of pics to chose from? -Kelly

I usually print at home, when I need them. I am inevitably displeased with the prints I get from Walmart, Walgreen, CVS, shutterfly and Snapfish. (Boy I sound picky!) I generally only order photos when I need many at once -- after vacation, Christmas card photo or when I have managed to sketch out several layout with many pictures.

I have had 3 different HP printers over the years and I have found that as long as I use HP paper and ink I am happy with the quality. Right now I have HP7300

I second that, and usually print my own at home too. Printing in bulk at Walgreen's is only when there is a good price and I have many picked out.

I LOVE Kodak's prints and used to order them in bulk every few months. but i am so behind I havent ordered pics in a long time. It is usually most cost effective. I dont scrap every pic i print though, the kids get whats leftover. or i try to use them in a different book. I am getting better about not ordering every picture.

I just got a new HP 4300 (i think) printer for christmas and the quality is very comparable to my kodak prints that i just got.

I am a professional photographer and use a lab in Minnesota for customer orders and personal prints - but, when printing for scrapping, I just print at Costco. When digi-scrapping, I either print at Costco or wait for a sale at ScrapbooksPlease. Costco does a bang up job that often matches the pro lab that I use, but, I'm cheap and don't want to spend $3 per page - I usually wait for the 99 cent sale at SP.

The 5x7 mini pages I'm doing I will order from my pro-lab, though.

It must depend on which store you use...because I can get good photos at Walmart, Walgreens, and CVS... just depends on which store I order to pick up from.. DH laughs because we have a list and when the sales go on..he or I run out to specific stores. :)

I have also gotten good photos from York photo lab, winkflash and snapfish.

I print at home. I used to do snapfish but once we went digital it wasn't neccessary any more. We have an Epson photo printer that we use only for photos. We also have an external hard drive just for photos and music. We don't keep any photos on our computer itself. Since I am so backed up I am still scrapping off of the prints from snapfish. (I am currently working on a Disney trip from 2004);) The beauty about being so behind is I have so many projects to work on, if I get bored I can move onto something else.

I print many of my photos at home. I also use Kodak Galleries for larger numbers of prints- especially if they are having a sale. I order prints for all the events at church and those are paid for by the church so when i am ordering for the church I will order what I want as well as I have them sent to a nearby store and just have to pay for the print price. I print in bulk- as things happen and I want photos I move them into a folder on the computer. Once I have enough or I am ordering for another purpose I upload that folder of prints. I just keep a copy of the photos in that one so once it is done I can just delete it.

I scrapbook at odd photo size most of the time so I print at home those on my photo printer.

I do a combination of both. I have a photo printer at home (two actually LOL) and if I find a good sale then I will order them too. I tend to place an order before I go to a crop so that I have a selection to work on but when I'm just doing a page here and there I print them at home. I've also been known to take my small photo printer with me to crops and print as I go. The one I have has some memory in it so I just copy over the stuff I think I'll work on and go from there. I've realized I save a lot this way since I don't print as many since I know exactly what I want to use on my page instead of printing everything and then having extras left over.

I usually go through Winkflash- I usually order maybe 6-7 times a year. But generally I order about 200-300 pics at a time. They are always having a sale- 6 cents a print. I do have a good photo printer at home- but since I print so many- it's easier and probably cheaper to go through other places for me.

I usually use Snapfish. They are good quality prints and they are super cheap. I usually wait until they have a free shipping sale and order about 300-400 prints at a time.
