WHat's your PIN Code situation?

I've never received a PIN Code before and I was wondering if those of us with reservations are hurting our chances of receiving these codes. I can understand if Disney is targeting those without current plans to visit WDW and why they wouldn't send a PIN Code to someone who already had a reservation. So what do you guys think?

Poll coming...

Bill:

I think you are absolutely right. I've never been one to book and plan trips 6, 8 and 12 months away.

I decide a timeframe within reason not too far away and then try to book within that timeframe based on what I know for discounts, specials etc.

We decided around January 20th to go down again and we called January 23rd. Turned out that we had been emailed a code on January 22nd. (*whew*) We booked for six nights February 25 to March 03.

I think having a reservation or for those who go more than 2 or 3 times a year - the likelihood of your getting a pin is greatly reduced. Certain those who have multiple reservations .. like a spring break trip.. a summer trip and a fall trip.. are less likely to be considered for targeted marketing.

Granted it was 2004, but we had ressies booked in February for our first to WDW with an AP rate in June. A month after I booked, I received a post card! :confused3

I got one yesterday (Well, my four year old got one, I should say) and we do have a reservation already. Now, the dates do NOT fall within my reservation time though, so it is pretty much useless to us unless we schedule another trip!

I already had a ressie for May and did not receive a code. It's funny, though, because last year, I had two ressies and received multiple email codes that I couldn't use because they weren't for my travel dates.:confused3

I started getting them after I cancelled a reservation (decided to stay off-site).

I got one today, but we cannot use it. We are going in July, but I have not booked yet. I, also, got a pin code in 2005, and we used it in June. We go to Disney every two or three years and have been very lucky about getting pin codes.

I looks like those who did not get a PIN Code are darn close to 50/50 on whether they had a reservation. But those who did get the PIN Code are almost all people who didn't have a reservation.

It's not 100% certain but it sure looks like if you already have a vacation booked you won't normally get a PIN Code. Maybe I should hold off on booking my reservations in the future so I can possibly get a PIN Code.

We did not get a PIN this time around, and, frankly, this is the first time I can remember not getting one when others had.

We booked at the beginning of the month for September. We normally do not book even 3 months in advance but we wanted to secure our reservations since we wanted (1) AAA rates (2) for WL standard for (3) 2 rooms. We figured we better book fast because there are so few WL std rooms and even fewer available w/AAA discount, and we wanted 2 of them.

Of course, now, 2 weeks later, we've already switched to the Poly. Go figure.

Bill,

I stayed at a Disney resort 7 times in 2006 and have 3 reservations booked for 2007, one already paid off and I received my first PIN code ever.

I was able to apply the code to my existing ressie for this year.

We received a pin code (40% off) at our house but it is in our brother in laws name. Him and my sister haven't been to WDW in 2 1/2 years since they went on vacation with us. My other sister also received a different pin code (30% off). She has only been on day trips to WDW and never stayed on site. She goes to college at Flagler.

I have a reservation and did get a code in the mail about a week ago. It's the first time I ever got a code and I am sooooooooooooo disappointed that I can't use it.

We have reservations and received a PIN code for the first time ever. We were able to use it for 40% off our room only ressie. The dates for our package didn't fall in the required time.

I have got codes in the past when I don't have a reservation. I haven't gotten this past code and I do have a reservation.
