Hi All ~ I've have Disney Cruise on my mind lately. Tell me about the 3-night cruise. What's the best time of year to go? What's it like in December, last week in December, first week of January? When is the least expensive time of year? Thanks! Sandra

Go for a seven day cruise. End of September & October are usually the most affordable.

Sandra

Go on over to the cruise section and there are lots of great trip reports.

Here is mine fromt the 7 day Western we just came back from. We had a great trip, much more relaxing than the parks and the service is truely amazing.

My girls ask at least once a day when we are going again. I am sure your family would love it.

The 3 day is ok but expensive for the number of days on the ship. Not to mention it feels like you are just getting settled in and you are getting off the ship. I would go for the 4 or 5 day where avaialble.

Sandra,
May is great time to go, weather is plenty warm, very little if no rain! We did land and sea 2005 and 2006 and couldn't have asked for a better time. We booked well in advance and thought we were getting a great deal on our Category 6, closer to sailing though Category 12 were really a bargain. If you have more than 3 people you automatically get upgraded to cat. 11 on that deal.

I will agree that 3 days is not long enough, but if you've never gone before and want to get a feel for liking it or not it's great. We did 4 day cruises both years and it just left us wanting more! This year we are trying out RCCL without the children for a 7 day (more cost effective and we decided it was time to compare). I will so miss the Disney shows though as they are definitely beyond what you will see on any other cruise ship!

I'd love to try a 4-day cruise.
We almost booked a last minute trip this past March but I chickened out. My parents went on a cruise last year and my mom ended up being seasick - really bad too! So - I've a bit of concern over what if?!
It was my mom who pushed my dad into a cruise - he has a real phobia. My great-grandfather was a builder on the Titanic and nearly went down with the ship! I think their first cruise will be their last.
Those Disney cruises look pretty tempting. Do you miss the parks when you do a cruise? Do you mix it - land/sea - and if so - land for a couple of days and then sea or the other way around? Convince me!

Our first year we did 3 days at Disney and 4 days on the Wonder. In 2006 we did 4 days before the cruise and 4 days after the cruise.

This year we are staying off site and have 7 day park hoppers to use over 11 days. Hopefully we will get our fix for land and sea!!

The site has a great "filter "- you can filter by Cruise Line and length of cruise. This will allow you to see the side by side price comparisons for all year.

I have done 2 x 3 day cruises, 1 x 4day cruise and 1 x 15 day (TransAtlantic) and loved them all.

If you get to the port early, you can board the ship early (I've been on before noon) and therefore don't "lose" that day.
Also, if you stay on board in Nassau and enjoy the ship, the cruise will seem longer than if you get off in Nassau. If you don't see Nassau, you won't be missing anything!

We are staying at Disney for 14 days. We are taking a cruise just before. I gave my son the option of Disney cruise or carnival. (11 years old) He chose Carnival!:confused3 He said " It would be too much Disney!":rotfl:

His choice didn't upset me as we got the cruise for $209 per person! Then straight to Disney. We are sailing to Key West and Cozumel Mexico for 4 nights and 5 days!

Sandra, you are reading my mind!

I am also looking at the 3 and 4 day cruises and can't decide whether to go October or early December - pricing is the exact same. The week between Christmas and New Years is a HORRIBLE price - almost double!!

My mom did the 3 night and it was fine she said. Yes, you are sad that it is over but I am sad even after a week when it is over. I think 3 nights is a nice trip and I love how it goes over the weekend (Thurs - Sunday). I am thinking of doing 1 night (Wed) at a hotel near the port and then getting on the ship by noon! Go on the October 1st one!

Taken from another site - for price comparison only!! So you can see that early in the Month of Dec is generally much cheaper

December 3 and 4 nts

4 Dec 14 Port Canaveral, FL Disney / Disney Wonder $449
3 Dec 18 Port Canaveral, FL Disney / Disney Wonder $499
3 Dec 21 Port Canaveral, FL Disney / Disney Wonder $547
4 Dec 24 Port Canaveral, FL Disney / Disney Wonder $1,129
3 Dec 28 Port Canaveral, FL Disney / Disney Wonder $869
4 Dec 31 Port Canaveral, FL Disney / Disney Wonder $1,129

For the price difference, I'd spend a bit more for a 4-night. Our 4-night was short enough, and I personally wouldn't want a cruise to be any shorter than that. We went mid-January in 2007, and it was a gorgeous time of the year to go, except my wife and I found the ocean to be too chilly for us to enjoy swimming in (although there were tons of people who didn't seem to mind).

personally I wouldnt go for the 3 day. we have done two 4 days, and have booked a 7 and another 4. 3 days seem to be too short. it seems like you bartely have enough time on a 4 day.
trust me. book one. you will have a blast. go to their website and you can get a quick estimate right away.:thumbsup2
