I either don't know or don't understand where all the points used for the member's cruise go. Does DVD take the points and use them themselves to rent rooms to be turned over to CRO for cash reservations? With II exchanges, does DVD make the exchange reservation at a DVC resort and then just put that reservation into the II system?

The points used for the cruise (and all other non-DVC options) are converted to reservation equivalents pool and turned over to CRO for cash ressies for the general public. I don't think actual reservations are made until a request for a cash ressie is made thru CRO- the points are then deducted from the DVC points pool- regardless of the discounted rate offered for the stay.

For II exchanges, a specific 7 night stay is reserved and placed in the II system to be accepted by an II member.

I wonder how percentage of the profits stay with CRO as a "handling fee" for being the middleman in these transactions. CRO rent the ressie points and then pays cash to DCL or an outside exchange:confused:

Profits (or losses) would belong to CRO since the points used have already been negotiated and agreed to well ahead of time. With the heavily discounted room rates available lately, it would appear that CRO may have been on the short end of the current point charts.
