I'm confused,GAD ticket upgrade to 6 day hopper?

Ok, I'm confused (it doesn't take much). We are doing the GAD(project Linus) our blankets are due in 2 weeks. We are going to WDW July 10-17. There are 5 of us in our party and all doing the GAD to get the vouchers. I was going to order 6 day hopper passes from UT before we left and use the GAD for the FP's. I thought that if you got the multi day tickets that they only gave you the difference between say a 5 day hopper and a 6 day hopper which is usually only a few bucks. Now I'm reading here that is not the case.

If I used the 5 GAD vouchers for the free day and then upgraded to a 6 day hopper would they take off $79 from each ticket? A 6 day hopper is $283 so then would it only cost $204 (plus tax)? If that is the case then $79 X 5=$395. That is a lot of money.

Can someone please tell me if this is how it is working or if I'm totally wrong.

Yes, if you use the GAD voucher for admission, you can then upgrade it and get a $79 credit toward the new ticket price. (I'm not sure if you get credit for the tax or not, but you would get the price of a one-day ticket, so at least $79, maybe $83.)

One more question: We are staying offsite and driving to the parks. Our first day will be at the MK. So do I exchange the vouchers at the will call window at the TTC and then have to go to guest services at the main gate to upgrade them to 6 day hopper? or can I do it all at once? If I have to go to guest services at the main gate where is that?

According to the official details, you would redeem the voucher for the ticket either at the will-call at the TTC or at the MK gate (TTC would likely be quicker), go and enter the park, and then upgrade them anytime after at any GR or ticket booth at your convenience.

Some have reported being able to upgrade instantly though, so you can at least ask.
