Am I crazy??!!:rotfl2: PLEASE someone tell me that I am not. I ate there ages ago and loved it. Love the ambiance. My daughter will love the boats/pyramid - it will keep her occupied without it being yet another character buffet (although I DO enjoy those, now don't I) . I have searched and searched for the one positive review out there to make me smile. Perhaps the fact that I could choose any time to eat dinner there when Le Cellier and Tutto Itallia were ALL BOOKED should be a SIGN that things are not well at my beloved San Angel Inn. However, as a glass is half full kind of girl, I choose to see it as a sign that I am meant to have dinner there, gosh darn it!! SOMEONE TELL ME THEY LOVED IT!!!:woohoo:

I love the San Angel Inn. I went there on my last two trips (2005 & 2001.) The ONLY negative that I experienced was that our server in 2005 seemed very distracted -- but, hey, the restaurant was at peak dinner time, she was busy, and we got our food order just fine, so it was no biggie.

I personally enjoyed my meal and I LOVE watching the scenery from the boat ride. I like the ambiance of this restaurant. I found it really romantic when it was just me and my DH, pre-baby. And I'm sure kids find it cool, as well.

We also enjoy the marketplace they have in the building. Fun to shop at before or after dining. I've always given the San Angel Inn a big :thumbsup2 .

Thank you, thank you!! I am looking forward to my dinner there, and will post my fabulous review upon my return!!:hippie:

I went there last December and enjoyed it. I made ADR's for it this December also! :goodvibes

I'm feeling confident now!! Thanks for your reply - soon we'll have an entire fleet of San Angel Inn lovers! :hippie:

Pixie Dust to all:wizard:

I don't know about a fleet--perhaps a long-boat or two:)
But I do hope you enjoy your meal there!!

OK.. I agree brave and bold, go for it and I do hope you have the best meal of your trip..

A good restaurant is one that consistently sends out good meals for the price, ok an occasional miss, but for the most part good food, good service etc. The only reason I have downed San Angel Inn is that the only times we have eaten there on recommendations from others have not been good with even worse service..

I am wishing a great meal with even better service for you this trip....

THANK YOU everyone for your well wishes. At the very least, I will have a wonderful time with my Mom and daughter, right?! Now I'll be really nutty and make an ADR at Rainforest Cafe (just kidding:rotfl2: )

We ate there last Nov. for lunch and didn't think it was that bad. The Server was a little slow and it was very dark in there but I always say to try a rest. for yourself and decide whether or not you like it. Enjoy!

We have eaten there a number of times and loved it. We had lunch last time we went and my husband had fish tacos, and still talks about them.

I had some combination plate and just loved it.

We are big mexican food fans.

love your post title- I think lunch is the better bet. That is what we are going to try in December! (I personally wouldn't step foot in Rainforest though!!):upsidedow

I love the setting of San Angel Inn. The food is decent too. My only complaint is that 2 times in a row, the manager was soooooo rude to us for no reason! The same man 2 years in a row. The servers seemed to just kind of laugh him off, so maybe he is just really high strung. What happened one time, is that we just walked up and asked for a table and they said it would be 30 minutes, so I ran to the bathroom. I had literally just left, when he came up and called our name. My husband said that I had just gone to use the rest room and he gave him a really hard time and almost didn't hold our table. I don't remember what happened the next time, but same kind of attitude. I think he gets really stressed or something. We loved the atmosphere though, so we will probably try it for our trip in January. We have kids now and we think they would enjoy the unique setting. We haven't been in 3 years.

Good luck. Let us know what you think!

San Angel Inn is in my top 3 WDW restaurants and I try to eat there every time I visit. I have never had a problem with service and the food has always been tasty and properly prepared. The one tip I have gleemed from eating there is to be extra kind and patient with the servers and if you know a few phrases of Spanish, throw them out there! I speak Spanish and so mainly address the waitstaff in Spanish. Our waiter during our first meal, a young man, was so happy to talk we almost couldn't get rid of him! He told us that he loved being a server since he loved talking to people but because of insecurity with English he felt uncomfortable and had to struggle sometimes just to get everyone's order correct. If I remember correctly, he had only started the college program and had only been in the states a couple of months. Other servers during subsequent visits have expresses similar feelings. In fact, I have started using whatever foreign phrases I know in all of the WS countries and restaurants and have always had the same response - all of a sudden you get a huge smile and sometimes a sigh of relief. Even if all you know is a word or two it reminds these kids of home. This usually leads to better service.
So whenever I read a review about so-so service (not outright bad or rude service as there is no excuse for that!) I think that these kids may just be a bit flustered. Sorry for the long post and enjoy your meal!

I've been debating on whether or not to keep my SAI ADR or the Boma ADR. We're not really soup and salad people and that's what everybody always raves about at Boma. And we're always going to our local Mexican restaurant, and love it there. It's not authentic or anything, but we still like it. I guess we'll just see when we get there.

I went to San Angel Inn for dinner a week ago (Sunday 21) We were sat pretty quickly (5 min wait), our server was really great. Everything was very efficient, didn't have to wait for food, or play hunt the server. Walk Ups were being turned away. It was about 6:30pm.

The food was good, DS7 and I loved the soup to start with, Crema de Elote (he ate most of it!) DH had the Ceviche. DS was very happy with his kids meal (Quesadilla de Pollo) I had the Combinacion Cozumel, and DH had Filete Motuleno. DH really liked his, mine was good the shrimp were particularly tasty. We couldn't make it to dessert though!

I would be happy to eat there again. We had a great meal. Though I would agree with the thought that it's a bit too dark in there. We were fine, but I can see how it could be a negative. There was a particularly evil child playing lets trip up the servers, boy did he get in trouble when his parents spotted him. I'll add the disclaimer that this my opinion only, I could have very low expectations or am easily pleased!! Enjoy!

I cannot thank you guys enough for all the great posts!!!!!!!!! You guys are awesome. I will be there the first week of Feb in my lime green crocs carrying my lime green baggallini eatin' at the SAI!!!!!

We ate here a year ago and really enjoyed the meal. We did have a problem with the wait staff but that was mild. After reading the reviews for the past year, I became a little worried about making reservations for next August. After reading this thread, I am going to try again!!!!

we ate there for the first time in june.we had an ADR and was seated immediately, loved the atmosphere,we had a very good waiter and we all enjoyed our dinner.Hope you enjoy it too!

Hi Macysmom32!

I have always wanted to try the SAI, but never have. I love Mexican food and the setting is great. Instead, I think we have eaten at the Cantina de San Angel everytime we have been to Epcot. I'm talking about many times over the 20+ yrs it's been open! Sitting outside in the heat or cold fending off the birds to eat your taco is the same as eating at SAI right?:rotfl:

Actually, I'm really bad about always doing things the way they've always been done so its OK with me that neither my Daddy nor my DH is willing to "pay that much for tacos!"

Anyway, have a good trip and enjoy your meal! I'm also jealous that you're staying at WL (my fav) while were at OKW in Feb also. Oh well, anywhere in WDW is better than nowhere at WDW!:cloud9:
