I'm brave but....

My family just returned from a week at WDW. My DS6 reminded me that he was brave and that he was now tall enough to go many of cool rides. First was Expedition Everest.

All day we talked about the ride and the things I knew. He still wanted to go on the ride so we went. He got off very speechless and said it was creepy.
Not much more...

Later in the week, we were at MGM and he was begging me to go on RnR. I once again told him what the ride was about and that it was much wilder than EE. He still said he wanted to go.

Anyway, we're in line and he starts thinking about how scary the ride is. As we wait for the next coaster, I remind him that he's brave--that's what you've told me all week.

Well, when the next coaster pulls away, I said he was brave, but he looks at me and says "dad, i lied."

I didn't know what to think. It was cute and scary at the same time.
Anyway, I smiled and said, i'll be right beside you.

He slowly got into the coaster with me....and went on the ride like a trooper. He wasn't freaked out the rest of the day, but he did walk out of the RnR gift shop slow.

Very nice stories.

I remember my first big coaster rides (not at Disney) as a kid.

Took me a long time to get over the overwhelming sensations.
And it was a long time before I really wanted to "go again".

But after my family and I made a few trips to Disneyland (back in the days that Walt was still in charge)... I knew even then, that I had "found my thrill".

I now make many WDW and DLR trips... They are still "magical"... but I kind of miss that early "overwhelming sensation" on the attractions now that I've grown accustomed to what to expect.

Its great to remember that everything that's "old" to me, can be "new" for the kids coming along now.
