Well, I am a die-hard Riverside, WL and AKL fan but for my trip in May we are trying CBR for the first time. I've never even stepped foot on property there so I'm clueless besides what I find online.

It came down to the fact that I just bought a new house and that comes with the million dollars in unexpected expenses. ;) I had WL booked with the postcard rate - the nine nights would have been $1,375 and when I called today CBR was the only moderate with code rooms available...the same time period was $793. So the difference in $$ won out.

I admit I'm nervous...I'm nervous about showing up and it not feeling Disney-enough, etc. I think it will be fun in that this is my first Spring-time trip in ages and the Caribbean theme will be fitting...I don't know. :confused3 I really love POR and the feel of it and I don't want to spend the next 3 months worried about it. (but at the same time I want to try something new) I'm impossible, I know.

Anyway - if there is anyone out there who enjoys POR like I do and has spent time at CBR I'd love to hear your impressions. In the meantime I'll be scouring the boards and web for more info, pics, etc.

Thanks for listening to me ramble. :earboy2:

I just booked CBR last night. This is my first stay on Disney property. I am still checking around to see if I can get a better deal off-site or a coupon for a better rate at CBR. I am currently paying about $140/nt. A big leap for a single mom like me.

MsMulan...
:wizard: Here's pixie dust hoping a code comes your way for your stay!

I have stayed at POR and CBR and love them both. They are differently themed, but equally nice. The things I like best about CBR are the pools and the walk to the food court area. It is a nice path with tropical music playing, makes you feel very relaxed, very nice scenery. There is a lake area by the main pool where we would feed the ducks in the evenings. There are hammocks by the "beach" area which are nice as well. Overall CBR was a great experience. We really enjoyed ourselves.

I don't think you have anything to worry about!

Im also a die-hard Riverside fan :) We tried CBR about 3 years ago. The palm trees and scenery was very nice, the hammocks were great. We enjoyed watching the epcot fireworks from the main building :) (the pool bar also makes fab drinks!!) Its worth it to be in the preferred buildings, the resort is pretty spread out. In the end though, Riverside is still our favorite :earsboy: There's nothing wrong with CBR, its definitely Disney, its just hard for us to not stay at POR. lol. :earboy2:

I have stayed at both POR and CBR. My kids liked the theming better at CBR and I agree. The water activities were better at CBR also.

I have lots of great pictures of CBR in the links below. You might want to check out the FAQ's also.

POR was my favorite until the year the boat to DTD wasn't running. So I tried CBR, and I loved it more. It still is a hard decision between the two as I really like the boat and the lounge at POR. May is my preferred month, and I'll be at CBR again this year. With tax I'm paying $163 a night...where did you get a code?

cassie - I got the code from a postcard my SO received. He's only been once and gets one and I've been a bazillion times and nada. I was holding out for AP rates but figured I better snatch this when I could. It was the only moderate I could use it at.

Lucky you :earsboy: I think you'll enjoy CBR. I like the fact the main pool is by the foodcourt with a lot of tables outside to eat on or have a drink from the pool bar which is excellent. I was solo there, and kinda shy. I tend to head to my room after the parks, but for some reason I found myself stopping at the pool bar for a drink, and everyone was so friendly. Also I did enjoy having breakfast outside enjoying the wonderful warm weather before hitting the parks.

I don't know anything about POR, but my wife and I are die-hard Poly fans. During a financial crunch we stayed at the CBR and had a Great time with lots of Disney magic. We never had to wait on a bus longer than 5 minutes and the staff told us that the resort was booked solid but we rarely saw anyone - very quiet. :3dglasses

Run, run as fast as you can. :teeth:

I would say POR. I like the fact that POR and POFQ are sister properties...you can go the restaurant at POR, walk the trail from POR to POFQ and hop on the boat at either resort to take you to DTD. The scenery is very pretty and the resorts are very peaceful. Nice!

I love, LOVE , LOVE the CBR!!!!! My favorite building is Jamaica...it is a short walk to the food court and the first bus stop....so you always have a seat!!!!! :cool1:

I hate to say it, but we enjoyed POR more than CBR. CBR was just too spread out and we spent quite a bit of time waiting for the buses. It certainly wasn't terrible, we just really love the mansions at POR. Hey, at either of these you will be at WDW and that is what is important. You will have a great trip! princess: pirate: :earboy2:

:teeth: We love this resort we were there June 2002, June 2004, and are going back this June  . I dont have anthing negative to say about this resort or POR(never stayed that theme does not appeal to us) If you can I would suggest the preferred buildings of Martinque or Trinidad North, they are the closest to food court. We made our reservation to late so there is no telling where we will end up. But its not going to make or break our vacation!! Hope you have a magical vacation no matter where you stay :earsgirl:

We really enjoyed our stay at CBR-great theming, beautiful grounds, very "Disney" dont worry. :sunny:

We have stayed at all the moderates and CBR in particular twice. The first time we knew nothing and were placed at the farthest village from the food court. What a walk, although the grounds are lovely. The second time my sister wanted to stay there and we were close to the food court. We had parking lot view without a parking lot in sight. Just a lovely little garden with a path to the food court. We had the funniest drivers that stay as well. One day we waited about 15 minutes for a bus. I picked up the phone at the bus stop and called and there were 2 buses in a very short time. We also had a very considerate mousekeeper and our requests were honored completely. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We LOVE CBR! I've stayed there 3 times. Love the little island in the middle- beautiful landscaping and tons of bunnies and ducks all over the whole resort.

Rooms are the biggest of all the moderates- they are the same size as WL!
