I'm booking our October WDW vacation tomorrow. I know exactly what I want (Pop, Delta air, etc). Should I book directly with Disney or use a travel agent? Would there be any difference in price?

I booked with DU for our trip. The price is the same as booking myself and there's so many benefits; they'll watch for discounts for you, make PS, answer your questions, book tours, park tickets, etc. They do not book airfare tho so that you'll have to book yourself.

DU = Dreams Unlimited, go to the top of this page & click on reservations, it will take you to there website. I've always heard good things about them.

I used Dreams for my package in Nov. We did Pop, Dining Plan and base tickets.

I priced out what it would cost me seperatly. And I figured I am ahead. And I don't have to worry about my PS.

I purchased my air back in Late Jan. early Feb. So now it is just saving money for spending and paying off my package.

Disney definitely won't have the lowest price. A AAA travel agent can get you a good rate if you are a member. A DU agent can book a AAA room-only ressie for you but not a package. There are no other discounts currently available for October but a DU agent will keep an eye out for discounts that you qualify for and they will work to apply them. They will also book your PSs for you if you ask.

I would not do air travel as a part of a package. I've never been happy with the choice of airline or the flights that I've gotten when I allowed the travel company to do it. And they don't get you any special rates, either. If a direct flight and convenient travel times are important to you, book the flights yourself.

Don't always assume you're getting a good deal with AAA. I had my local Disney expert at AAA price a DL package for us and it was $500 more than the price directly through Disney for the same package and she told me there was no availability for us to use our frequent flier miles to fly for free (we booked directly using frequent flyer miles the same night on the exact dates we requested).

So, my advice is do your homework and know what the basic price through Disney is so you'll know if you are getting a good deal or not through any travel agent.

Book your own flight. Check the Delta website daily for the prices of the fares. They change all the time. Last year I check the air fares for about 2-3 weeks and I got airfare for 135.00 roundtrip out of Cleveland Ohio to Orlando International. :) Good Luck! The down side of booking through AAA is that (at least my experience)they do not check for any discounts once the package is booked. I enjoy booking everything myself. I make a game out of how much money I can save. :)

You'r absolutely right. There's a big difference between "CAN" and "WILL". There are no guarantees that your AAA agent "WILL" get you a good rate. It's always best to know what to expect to pay before booking with any TA.
