I'm being scammed

On Facebook Marketplace.

User popped up, claimed to be legit. Offered me the full amount, for some stereo speakers. So far, so good.

Then he claimed that he was sending a courier down to me at 5PM tomorrow with the money and that he will pick the goods up.

OK...

Then he forwarded an eMail to me claiming to be from an insurance firm, asking for all sorts of details and things. This eMail was INCREDIBLY amateur. I fear they will try and take more money off me when they show up tomorrow.

This is the exact scam, found with a little searching:

I have got back in touch with him saying, deal's off. No response. Here's hoping he's got the message. From now on, no more Facebook Marketplace. eBay or better.

Be wary of the Zelle one too on marketplace. The buyer will say they sent the money via zelle and then claim there’s some issue with the Zelle account and you need to pay to upgrade it. They’ll also send you the Zelle transfer confirmation but it’s not a legit link. My husband had fun with the scammer and called him out.

According to the scam outlined in the link, there wouldn’t be anyone at your door anyway as the con involves you forking over your account info via phishing.

That said, you should have noticed it was iffy the moment he said he’d send a courier with payment, and then he would come in person to pick up the goods. Why not just bring the money on the pick up visit?

What percent of your Facebook transaction are like this? You post an awful lot about bad transactions. Is it really worth it?

Selling a few random items you want to get rid of likely invites the scammers to approach you. I would hold a garage sale if you enough things to sell. If you are the buyer, I would stick to buying things from reputable companies rather then private parties. Any person offering to sell/buy something from you with convoluted payment/shipping arrangements are most likely a scam. Legit businesses already have established payment/billing/shipping methods as these are routine transactions. No one is going to ever show up at your door. Mostly likely they just trying to scam you and/or steal your credit card information. Scammers always claim to be 'legit' since obviously none of them are ever going to admit they are running a scam..............LOL.
