I recently cancelled my 12/28 7 night... and haven't had the heart to visit these boards and read all about your fun. I cancelled in favor of a week long trip to WDW, and a week in Ireland over spring break, but I didn't realize how devasted my daughter (6) would be. So, now, I'm looking at December 2003... even looking at the Western vs the Eastern... I'm also looking at a cat 7 to reduce costs. I'm not sure I could handle giving up the verandah entirely.

Going over Christmas vs New Years reduces the cost quite a bit, but comparing this to what Royal Caribbean (explorer of the seas) costs... I'm wondering if I should look at RC. On RC I can get up to a D9 category room for cheaper than Disneys Cat 7 price. Has anyone here taken a RC cruise and stayed in a balcony room? I'm thinking it might be a nice change of pace, especially with the skating rink, although I'm not sure I like the stops they make... and ideas on this one?

If I go with DCL cat 7, any rooms to avoid? It's just going to be me and my daughter, and one of the reasons I'm looking at the western itinerary is that she wants to swim with the sting rays, and I remember reading about so many people enjoying this on the western...

Any help would be appreciated

There are a few category 6 cabins that were recently down-graded to category 7s because they have a partial (minimal?) obstruction. I believe that they are still much more open than the traditional category 7s though. They may be a good choice for you. I have forgotten the cabin numbers but I'm sure somebody here will remember.

I am going on my first Eastern in 3 weeks and haven't been on the Western yet so I can't help you with those questions.

We're on the same cruise as you are. In fact, it's my mom, Memeremouse, that grew up in Bellmore, NY. (She answered one of your previous posts.)

See you there.

Michelle...a lot of the DIS'ers are planning on getting together...we are supposed to wear lime green ribbons....there is a post regarding the 11/30 cruise...check it out if you get a chance...we are in cabin 7130....stop by and say hello!

Tom -

I have been responding to those threads. :D

We are sailing with my parents and this is probably the last time that we will all take a big family vacation together for quite some time. (My 89yo grandmother lives with us and while she is still going strong we don't like to leave her alone for extended periods of time.) Anyway, we'll probably do mostly family stuff this trip but would love to meet everyone the first day. Now if we could just pick at place and time.

I've cruised on both DCL & RCL and both have their pros and cons.... You won't be disappointed on either. DH, DD & I were going on RCL this Winter until our neighbors agreed to go on DCL. They decided to take DD on DCL instead of RCL for this trip-her first cruise-because she was still young enough to believe....I know, I know....I'm 37 and I still believe - but you know what I mean... Anyway, RCL is less expensive and basically goes to the same ports. The newer ships (which I love!) are huge and you don't feel a thing. Having gone on both DD while on DCL like RCL kidcamp better because the groups were smaller. But on DCL she liked the characters-we'll see how it goes the second time around. DD's first time ice skating was on a cruise ship in the Western Caribbean - how exotic!! DH who is not a big Disney fan absolutely hands down LOVED DCL. He loved the dueling piano bars and the shows. Did I mention Palo's....ahhhhhhhhh gotta have the Chocolate Souffle!! Next years cruise with friends will be on RCL so we can do all of the activities and for me THE CASINO!!!
Let me know if you have any other questions...I love to cruise!!!
:bounce: I wanna cruise with MICKEY! :bounce:
