I'm Back! I'm Back! I'm Back!

Thank you Sherry, for the very nice reception of my tiny tale. I appreciate it.
The material just comes into my head, and I roll with it.
I like the Planet of the Apes too. However, the quote " I am not an animal" is in reference to Joseph Carey Merrick, he lived and died in 19th century England.
It was in David Lynch's film, "The Elephant Man" that his (Joseph Carey Merrick's character) makes that statement in one of the scenes. Now if he (JCM) had actually made that statement in real life, I cannot say for certain. However, it is very possible that he had. For he had been treated like an animal, for many years, until being rescued by the British physician, a one Dr. Frederick Treves that took him in,treated him as best as possible, and was instrumental to bringing some semblance of normalcy to Joseph's life.
In 1979 it had been suggested that Joseph Merrick had Proteus syndrome or "Elephant Man's Disease", which causes abnormal, unchecked growth of bones, skin, and other systems.

My reference in my tiny tale, is by no means meant as an affront to Joseph Carey Merrick. For I feel so very sorry for him. So many years, of being misunderstood, abused, and treated like a circus freak. That was all just so wrong, so unjust.

Ooops!!! My mistake!:rotfl: (See, I am getting old and addled!) I think I had Planet of the Apes on the brain because I had just seen it in the TV listings a couple of weeks ago, and was trying to recall how many sequels had been made. So when you said, "I am not an animal," in regards to Abu, the monkey, my mind instantly jumped to apes...and not 'elephants'! Yes, I saw "Elephant Man" way back in the '80s, but haven't seen it since. I didn't know who David Lynch was at the time and didn't realize it was his movie. Then, when he started coming out with all kinds of crazy, odd movies in later years, someone mentioned that Elephant Man had been his and it was surprising!!

SherrySherrySherry! I've just remembered something. You know how you had the haunted dresser drawers? We had one too. Every Single Time I walked past it, it had opened. Ack! I watched it, too. Closed it. Wait. Slooooooowly opened.

I think maybe PPH needs some little shims so their drawers would stop opening!

re: ginger smell...it's the smell of pickled ginger like you get, of course, at a sushi place, not ginger like gingerbread men. Figured I really should be clear, just in case, since there's discussion of gingerbread cookies!.

...Unless the PPH is just moving that same armoire thingy around to different rooms in the hotel!!:rotfl: Yep, it would slowly open, no matter where we were in the room or even IF we were in the room or not. And then my friend kind of banged into it while trying to make a bathroom run.

I would guess that those who are not familiar with the smell of ginger would not know what the smell in Monsters Inc. was. I don't think any of my friends or I realized that is what it was until you said it here, and then we went on it and the smell suddenly made sense!! ("Oh, OF COURSE that is what it is!" And then we hit ourselves on the head in that 'Coulda had a V-8' sort of way!) I am just not certain that the 'other smell' (besides peppermint and pine) in IASW is gingerbread, like my friend thought. If so, it didn't smell like the gingerbread in HMH!

Oh, and Lavender Peach -

I finally looked at that Hidden Mickey in the grandfather clock in the GCH. You were not kidding when you said it was hard to spot! I knew my friend (who spotted it back in October) had sharp eyes and she notices a lot of things, but even I was astounded that she had noticed this one, which is barely detectable - and she saw it when we were just quickly walking by the clock too!!! I asked her to show it to me this past weekend and I had to stand at an angle and try to catch the right light just to be able to see the vague outline of Mickey! It is definitely there, but that is a tough Hidden Mickey to see!!

Oh, you're so sweet, Kerri!:goodvibes I HOPE I can get there to meet up with everyone! I am seriously going to try. And it is the 4th that's the best day for everybody, right? Yes, there are still a few things I didn't get done, so you are right - that would be a perfect opportunity to do them!
The other restaurant that Guy Fieri has is called Johnny Garlic's, right? I love garlic, so that sounds like my kind of place!:thumbsup2

The 4th would be the best day for me, otherwise we will have to do an evening deal. We are hoping to get in by 5 and in the parks by 6 but you just never know....especially driving the Grapevine.

Yes, Johnny Garlic's, they are or have just recently opened one of those in Sac as well. I soooooooo want to eat there!!!!!! YUM!

Gisele, if you liked that movie, you should find a copy of the play in which David Bowie played Merrick without makeup or prostheses. The still pictures you can find of it don't look like anything, but I remember watching it on TV and it was *amazing*.

Haunted drawers? Cool!!! Our PPH room did not have those!! :)
Pickled ginger makes perfect sense. :) I told DBF last night that I wanted to ride it and he said "not my favorite ride but it's OK, we can totally do it" :rotfl: He's so good to me. :rotfl2:

I too, am thinking haunted dresser draws. Now that would be cool. The TAPS team can be called in to investigate. Or better still, call in that cutie, Zak Bagans, from Ghost Adventures (Travel Channel) TV listings Ghost Adventures It does not matter if nothing is happening at the time, on that show, because the leader of the group is such a hunk, who cares if a ghost shows up. ha ha! Seriously, although he is that, I like to see what if any paranormal activity might take place, too of course. :)
I know most likely it is just a matter of a little maintenance that is most likely needed for those bad attitude dressers.

Okay, I have begun to piece together the new Trip Report, even though I am sick. I have begun by posting new photos from the October Halloweentime trip (some of which did not come out, sadly) on Page 7 of the existing TR (link below in signature), and will go from those to the TR about last weekend's December trip!!! So, everybody stay tuned!!!

I apologize for the large photos - my computer is on its last legs, and it runs sooooooo slowly that to edit, resize or crop all the photos would probably not only take WEEKS, but it would crash the PC once and for all!

Ohhhh TAPS, I love TAPS!!!!

Me too, great minds think a like. :) Do check out Ghost Adventures too, I think that you will like the series as well. In a way, their approach is different from TAPS, however can be just as effective. I think that you will enjoy watching the show, and Zak. he he! ;) Seriously.

Okay, I am all done with the Trip Report until I get my PhotoPass pictures CD in the mail. Otherwise, the rest of it is all done!! Woo hoo!!:yay: It starts on Page 7 of my existing TR thread and ends a couple of pages later or less. It is not as long as I expected!!! Photobucket was giving me nothing but trouble form beginning to end!

LOL I'll have to find that one. :)

Are you feeling better Sherry??

I was keeping my eyes out for you and a LGMH when I was there at the same time, but I'm not sure I saw you. It sounds like you had a fun time! Our DD became engaged in front of the castle after the fireworks show on Sunday, so it was an extra special trip for our family! :)

Are you feeling better Sherry??

Well, yesterday, I thought I was getting better because I had been popping tons of vitamin C and guzzling orange juice. I decided to work on the Trip Report all day yesterday to get my mind off of not feeling well (you know how when you sit in bed and rest, you are left to think about how awful you feel?) and that seemed to work, but today I seem to have taken a step backward and feel worse! I have been brainstorming on whether or not I can get to DLR next weekend and meet up with you guys, but I have a few issues working against me at the moment. I want to get back while the Christmas stuff is still up SO badly, to knock off those last few things on my list that I didn't get to do last weekend, but unless something miraculous happens at the last minute (and that is always a possibility), it doesn't look like I will be able to go. I am crossing my fingers, though! I will just have to leave it in fate's hands!

I never saw a single LGMH anywhere! I don't know how people are able to spot them. Even if nobody noticed MY LGMH, I didn't see anyone else's LGMH! I think it is amazing that people ever see them in the first place, seeing that there are thousands of people in DLR on a daily basis, and the crowds are thick! I was in front of the Castle on Sunday night getting a PhotoPass picture taken (while the PP photographer was still there), but I probably left before the proposal happened...though I still think Melissa's scarf looks familiar. I may have caught sight of it somewhere and not known she was with your group!

Sherry I hope that you will be feeling fine, really soon. Like tomorrow. :)
Or better still today!
Here is hoping that you will be able to attend the mini-meet.
You live so close, it pains me to think that you might not be able to attend. Then of course, what with not feeling well, that is not helping matters.
So annoying cold, get out of Sherry! And fate, find a way to make it possible for her to go to Dl. next weekend! Please......... :)

Sherry, I hope it works out for you!!! I really would love it if you could make it!!

Gisele.....oh ya, I see what you mean. LOL I watched the clip from the Idaho State Penitentary in Boise, I've been there!!! LOL Very cool!!!! And very cute! :)

Pixie, how fortuitous that you were able to visit the prison. What did you think? How did the tour go? See any ghosties? Film any?
I guess I just do not go to the right places! For I have not seen a ghost, etc. so far. Oh well, maybe I am not suppose to? I think that would be so cool to see a nice ghostie, the means one, not so much. LOL! ;) :)

Well I have no problems with ghosties as I grew up in a majorly haunted house. LOL I had many many one on ones with happy haunts. And yes, they were all happy. :) Let's see, I went to the Pen. when I was in......8th grade, so it was years and years ago. I want to take the kids when we go visit family, I think they might get a kick out of it! :) I don't remember seeing any when I was there and I don't really remember the tour either. lol My family lives in Idaho, Fruitland, Kuna and Boise so we are there pretty regularly. We keep talking about moving there but so far we've been able to resist the pull of family. LOL

Just an update.... My Trip Report(s) based on my 10/2008 and 12/2008 DLR trips has evolved into an epic trip down DLR memory lane, filled with pictures and a mish mash of stuff. I have posted pics from DL trips in 1980 all the way through Summer of 1992, and I still have more coming from December 1992 through December 1994 and into 1995!!! It is a bonanza o' Disney! So anyone who followed along in the early stages of the TR, feel free to revisit any time and see what else is being added in. I've got old Tahitian Terrace photos and pictures of the old version of the DLH, pre-makeover. (Bret Michaels from Poison even makes an appearance in my DLR Trip Report, for those of you who haven't already seen it!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:) The link to the TR is in my signature below!!!

Jasmine and Marie, I know you guys have already been over there (thank you:goodvibes :grouphug: ) and I am going to reply to your posts as soon as I am done with the rest of the pictures! I am on a roll! Woo hoo!

......And now I have included stuff all the way up to 1995 in my TR! So, picture-wise, there is a span of 1980 - 2008 in this TR, along with juicy back stories of what was going on with, or whatever happened to, some of the folks in the pictures!! It is a Trip Report and a soap opera all rolled into one, with LOTS of pictures!!
