I'm back from my 1st trip to DW, my thoughts...

Here are my thoughts on DW as a first timer...

1st, LOVED IT overall! Now I can see what the hype is all about.
-very organized
-cast members are ALWAYS nice, smiling, and helpful
-a lot more crowded than I thought it would be (British kids were on Holiday)
-Fastpass is great! Didn't have a problem getting 4th, 5th, 6th fastpasses after our 3
-didn't expect CM to cut off lines for character greetings (didn't read that anywhere online)
-these Disney boards helped me out A LOT with the trip planning!
-What I loved the most: Mickey's philharmagic, toy storia mania ride, & peter pan's flight
-What I loved the least: Turtle talk with Crush (don't waste a fastpass)
-we stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort and it was really nice
-Disney transportation is NOT as bad as everyone said
-the buffets at Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace are actually good, character experience worth the $$$
-Sci-fi Dine in theater restaurant was a neat experience, everyone enjoyed that
-Dole whips taste...ummmm...different? weird? I don't know about the whip
-realized that Disney has a thing for dark boat rides, ha ha
-magic bands are awesome....SO convenient!
-Kali River Rapids is a VERY short ride! We were like, "that's it?"
-AK walkways are narrow (heads up for those with strollers)

glad you had a great time! I too, had a very glowing positive first time experience at WDW as an adult -- age 38. Now we go about every 4-5 years. I thought I'd be a "one and done" but NOOOOO. I truly love it there. Be sure your next trip is around the opening of the new star wars land and toy story land.

Did you see the new star wars fireworks at Disney Hollywood Studio?

Haha the dark boat rides thing made me laugh! Glad you had a good time! I find the cutting off of lines SUPER upsetting. I know it has to be done, but I wish there was a better way. I hate it!!!! And I agree about Kali River Rapids! We hadn't been on it in years and this time we went on and were like, "oh?" . I def. did not remember it being so short but my goodness is it ever!

Yeah, can totally see why everyone plans more trips. We wanna go next Fall.

I felt the same way after our first and only ride on Kali! I still can't decide if it's worth riding again.

Hang on to your magic bands for your next trip--even if you don't stay on Disney property, you can still use them for admission, FPs, and photos. (you can't charge to them though)

1- We love Turtle Talk. We see it 2-3 times per trip.
The problem is, since it is so reliant on randomly-chosen little kids' and parents' responses
-and "Crush" being able to react to those comments-
EACH show can be different (like Improv comedy shows) so some shows are much better than others.
But, for sure, do NOT use a FP for this show. It's easy to see w/o a FP. Worthless waste of a FP.

2- Not "everyone" says that it's bad. Lots of guests love it and rely on it every trip.

Dole whips taste...ummmm...different? weird? I don't know about the whip

I agree! I hadn't had a Dole whip in several years so my DD & I got one at the Pineapple Lanai at the Poly last year. We didn't like it.
It didn't have a pineapple taste to us ---- it was almost like really strong, thick sour cream.
