I'm back from 19 total hours in DLR...

Weather...cold on Friday, really cold. Wish I had spent the few minutes to find my thin gloves I use for jogging, b/c my hands were icicles.

Saturday dawned gorgeous and blue-skied, and was a bit confusing. Hands cold but torso sweating. But around 3 the clouds started forming and itsy drops of rain started showing up. Not enough to cancel the 3:30 parade (which is at around 4 when you're sitting eating lunch at the Plaza, lol), but things were getting darker and cloudier. Went to Tiki room after the parade and when we came out from that it was even darker. Then I had to leave, exited the gates at 5pm and it was raining and cold.

Crowds, especially on Friday, were beyond light. I kept TRYING to get a fastpass, but the wait, for example, for Indy was just the amount of time it takes to walk through the queue, so I didn't bother. (our wait for that was a bit longer than intended b/c it broke down right before we got to the room where you watch the film) Wait time of 5 minutes for Splash. Most of the FP machines were covered up.

Saturday was a bit more crowded b/c of the sunny start to the day, but I don't think I saw a wait time of more than 20 minutes on anything. Oh wait, food lines were long!!! But that's about all I saw that was a long wait. :)

Just noticed your sig, so you might care. :) On Saturday I was sitting on the rocks outside Indy, having just ridden again (that is such a fun ride, especially if you're a single rider and are put with a carload of strangers!), and the ride broke down. Closed the line and everything (though I guess maybe they closed the line when I was inside, hmm). I love that ride and see nothing wrong with it while inside (bamboo pole there and seemingly working, bugs crawling on wall worked, rat illusion working), but it sure does break down a lot!

Welcome back to the real world, Molly! Hope you enjoyed your break and ds and dh had some great one-on-one time together. :goodvibes

"Bamboo Pole ....working".....:woohoo:  :cool1:

Great news Bumbershoot. :thumbsup2

I love the Indy "fun stuff"...especially the pole & the rats. (& we know the rats are never an issue unless one wears sandals or flip flops.) :rolleyes1

danger...DS and DH did have a good time, though they had to have a campout in the living room for DS to get to sleep. Around 1:30 DH was finally able to move them to the bed; they were both so uncomfortable.

And the good news is, I finally have "sense memories" of DLR! The sounds, the smells, the sights...my recent memories have only been of rushing and being annoyed at my family for "slowing me down", but now I can sit and think about sitting somewhere, and it's like I'm there. Yay! Mission accomplished!

Sounds like you had a good time. Very nice.:hippie: Im very glad to hear about Indy. I havent been to DL since 2003. So I am very excited to be back and ride it again. It's such a great ride. Anyway, glad you had fun!

How was the Nemo ride? Is it fun? Is it ALWAYS packed? Is it the type of ride that makes you want to ride more than once?:laundy:

I decided to not go on Nemo this trip. I wanted to, b/c it's fun, but found it more enjoyable to just look at the lagoon and take bunches of pictures.

In September, though, I went twice. Once with DH and DS, and the second time while those guys napped and my brother was there with me. And going that second time wasn't just for my brother to see it, but because it's pleasant and fun, especially if you like the movie.

Packed...for the ride with the hubby and son, we used a day of Early Entry (as it was then) for it, and were inline, through the ride, and off inside half an hour. Since we had more than one day (we stayed onsite which gives you all the early days during your stay) we felt it was a good use of our time. But when I went with my brother, we got in line around 5pm. It stated the wait was, hmm, 40? minutes, but it was under. Or maybe it stated 60, but it was actually 40. Either way, we've been told by Nemo CMs to not trust what the sign says, b/c it's overestimated.

I did have an amazing solo trip. I'm frightened at the sheer number of pictures I think I took. Second day I preventatively changed memory cards and batteries, just so I wouldn't run out of anything at a crucial moment. I think I'm going to break shutterfly when I upload them!:lmao:

I will warn anyone with little ones...if you're taking a solo trip (even if your kid does not want to go, as mine didn't), you're going to feel guilt. On the flight down I was directly behind a girl who had turned 3 the day before who was going on her first trip to Disneyland (I kept wanting to say "didn't you know she would have been FREE if you had gone the week before?!!!???" but that wouldn't have done them any good at that point, LOL), and she kept screaming (cutely) "DISNEYLAND DISNEYLAND!!!!! and each time she did it I was happy for her and felt about as small as an amoeba for leaving DH and DS behind. :sad1:

But they did have fun, and I bought DS a lightsaber keychain (they are so much cooler looking than the proper-sized light sabers, IMO) and two Jibbitz for his crocs, and he said "oh, it's just what I wanted!" this morning. :)

*********
Rain is your friend, by the way, for light crowds and short lines. Just in case anyone's wondering. :)

Would you happen to know where (in Disneyland) I could buy that bowl of Clam Chowder? The one where the bowl is made out of bread and made to look like Mickey Mouse?

According to the menus posted at Allearsnet you can find it at the French Market in NOS. :)

I'm glad you had a great time Bumbershoot. Can't wait to see your pictures.

I don't know about the French Market breadbowl soup, but the clam chowder (and veggie or steak gumbo) in breadbowl that is at Royal St Veranda is NOT Mickey shaped. Nor are the soups or chili in the breadbowl at Pacific Wharf.

But I think you can just buy a sourdough loaf in Mickey form near the Boudin Bakery. Which is a fun tour, by the way. As is the tortilla factory. SMALL tours, tiny, even. But you get a little slice of bread and a fresh-made tortilla, so that's a good thing. :)

DTD, I did go in there while on a hunt for a pin (sold out, sniffle sniffle), and it was the same as usual. I'm not the biggest fan of DTD, but it has it's nice parts if you're into it! Music, people, stores smelling good... Man oh man World of Disney is so big!

Oops, sorry about that. I wasn't paying complete attention. I saw the part about soup in a breadbowl but missed the question about the mickey shape. The soup or stew in a bread bowl at the French Market is just the normal breadbowl shape. I've read elsewhere too that you can buy the mickey shaped bread at the Boudin Bakery, I think it might have said that the bread is around $6. Though with my brain today I could be completely wrong on the price. :p

Oh gosh, no biggie. :) I really have to use bold instead of CAPS to emphasize, or it really seems like I'm yelling. I should know better.

As I'm moving pictures from camera to hard drive, and now hard drive to shutterfly, I also feel like I'm up and down loading my brain's info to this board. :rotfl: You'd think I would be posting on micechat, since I helped out in a TINY and unofficial way on this trip with their Rally event, but, well, I'm not.
