I'm back - buying strategy

I was thinking of DVC last year and got cold feet. Rethinking again and have forgotten some of the strategies. If I plan on buying around 220-230 pts (probably through resale), and want to move around from year to year (OKW - VB - HH) what is the best strategy? Should I buy 150 of OKW and 80 of VB for the 11 month booking or just get all the points at my most used resort? (I can't remember if this means you can only book 80 pts worth at the 11 month advance?) Then use banking / borrowing to get into VB. I will vacation on either the last week of March or 2nd week of June. What would be my best use year?

Personally I would buy at VB and HH. Chances are, if you can be flexible, you will be able to get OKW without any trouble....

I would never buy off site with the idea of staying on site mainly. While OKW is the easiest to get into for several reasons, it is not easy for certain times and a GV would be very difficult. If you want to stay at VB and WDW, your cheapest options in the long run would be either to buy OKW and then trade to VB or buy VB or OKW and an add on for the other.

Of course the reverse is true for HH in the summer, if you want to stay there, you'll need to own there. HH will be farily easy most any other time other than summer and holidays.

If your main goal is to visit WDW, I would definitely not buy HH or VB. While the theory that OKW is a bit easier to get into, and it certainly is, certain types of units, GVs and Studios, still go first. I think having your home resort on property is important if WDW is your main reason for buying.

That is the way it works, 80 points at HH and 200 at OKW would give you 80 points to work with at HH at the eleven month window. This is actually a good technique. by using banking and borrowing, that 80 points could yield a 160 point stay with the eleven month window every other year. It could also yield a 240 point stay every third year.

HH home resort is VERY important for summer stays.

150-200 points at OKW and 50-100 at HH would seem to fill your need.
