Hey everyone!!! I'm back after being gone for 4 days. I have missed you all so much!! I see big changes have happened over here on the WISH board! May I congratulate everyone! It's so exciting to have our own place isn't it???

Well, I must say that being away from the Wish Board was worse then going through the induction phase of ATkins!! It's true. I went through withdrawal and found myself missing so many of you that have become my friends. There's just No PLace Like Home!!

I wanted to tell you my experience over the weekend. As you know my 21 year old son came home from Japan after 2 years of being there. HE IS SO HANDSOME... and has grown into a fine young man. He is a pleasure to be around and has matured and learned to express himself so beautifully! (just a side note... anyone out there have a beautiful 20ish daughter ???? I'm telling you, this boy is a real catch, if I Must say so myself!!!! :teeth: )
Now, where were we??? Oh- To make a very long story short-( my trials and misadventures were posted when they were in the process of happening) I fell off the ATKINS wagon. Thursday- Sat. By the time Saturday night rolled around and my blood sugar had gone from being even to 295 I decided I could no longer be a bum and jumped back on the band wagon. Today is day 3 of induction- and I am feeling so much better. I'm actually glad I went through all these experiences. It has taught me a couple of things.
First, that I really need to be here on these boards. Getting a daily, sometimes almost hourly, dose of other people going through the same triumphs and trials is extrememly beneficial for me. You all have truely become my friends, people that I look to for encouragemnet and support. Thank you all for being here when I've needed you. I hope that I have helped others in return.
Second, that eating low carb is something that makes me feel much healthier and better about myself. Even if I'm not losing weight- which in the past has been a snag for me, I still feel better and my Blood sugar is controlled. I'd forgotten the light headed feelings and bloating that come along with high carb eating. My energy levels dropped very quickly and my need for stuffing something in my mouth that was high in sugar was incessant! It's wonderful to feel control over what you put in your mouth and that is what happens when I do low carb!
and Third- that no matter what kind of failure you have, you can always turn it into a success! That you can learn from your failures and make things better for yourself.
I must say though that the last observation wouldn't have been the typical me- I owe a lot to those of you here that have set the example of try try again!
Well, like I said it's good to be home! Looking forward to everyones new threads and life's adventures!!!

I missed your posts Karen! I'm glad you are back. It must feel so good to have your son home again. I have a very beautiful (both inside and out) daughter who will be 20 in June!;) She loves to have people to talk to on the computer - so feel free to ask him to email her (hey, who knows! :teeth: ). PM me and I'll give you her email address. I bet he had lots of stories to tell you of his time away. Your weekend together must have been very special!

Karen I have definitely missed you and I was so happy to see a PM from you this morning!! :) I am glad you had a great weekend with your family!!

You have such a positive outlook on things now and I am very happy for you! Great attitude and keep it up!! I am here for you anytime!! :):)

Welcome back, Karen!!!!!

Sorry you had to "learn the hard way" so to speak, but I am glad that you can look back on your experience and see it for what it was!!! (something that made you realize you prefer your healthier lifestyle!) :)

Would your son be interested in an older woman? ;) My sister is 33, tall, gorgeous, owns her own home, has a Disney annual pass, ha ha ha! Ok, so maybe she's too old for him! ;) But just think, you would have a place to stay in Central Florida!

Glad to have you back!

Karen,
That was one of the most inspirational posts I've seen! I'm proud to be counted as family! Thank you for that post. Your observations were wonderful, insightful and inspiring. Glad to have you back and more glad that you have your baby back!

Keep the Faith!
Tracy

And welcome home to ds! Sounds like a reason to take a Disney trip! :) Also curious to see what you cooked for him- did he have any favorites he couldn't get in China? You're doing great and many wish hugs for a safe induction week for you!!

It's so good to see you here again, Karen. I've missed you.

Isn't it strange how our best lessons in life are always the hard lessons?

There is so much more to being healthy than losing weight. I think I sometimes lose sight of that so that you for taking the time to remind me.

You are back on the road to good health. Now that you are following the Atkins plan, which is pretty structured, I'll bet the weight starts falling off.

But your blood sugar is the most important concern you have and now you have it back under control again. That is wonderful news.

Thanks for posting this I found it to be motivational and inspirational. I'm proud to be part of your family and thrilled that you are part of mine.

Now, never, ever, ever go away from WISH for that long again!
