Well, its been one year since I last visited this forum in hopes of gaining a little info and experience about the Disney College Program. I've met many people who have done the program and they inspired me many, many years ago to participate in it myself if I ever made it to college. Yes, I am a huge Disney fan.

Last I visited the forum, there was a lot of negativity that really brought the mood down, so I decided not to return. I'm hoping a more positive and polite group of members now frequent this site.

I still planned on applying for the Disney College program once I went back to school, but a lot of things in my life changed and I decided not to attend college at all. I let my long-time dream of joining the college program go, because I reasoned with myself that I probably would not get in. I've faced so many other disappointments, that even when I contemplated returning to school, getting denied for the Disney College Program would be a let-down that I couldn't bare to face.

After I recovered this year from an accident getting hit by a car while walking to work, and getting fired for medical complications that occured following the accident, I decided to return to school. I have a new job, a big settlement, and I have decided that I do want an education. Plus, I want to have the courage to apply for the College Program within the next year, before my schooling becomes too serious to spare a semester.

How hard is it, really, to get into the College Program? Am I wrong to avoid the application because I don't want to be rejected?

Don't avoid it!! Try!!!

I used to be like that...not wanting to try things and put myself out there because of the fear of rejection. But trust me, if you don't put yourself out there and try for the things you want, you'll regret it. And you'll never know what could have been.

I decided a couple of years ago that I wasn't going to live a life plagued by what ifs. I didn't want to torture myself like that. And it has worked out great for me. I feel like I'm actually really starting to live life, and that's what I've always wanted.

The good thing about the CP is that if you do get rejected, you can always try again. And if you can't spare a semester while you're in school, you can apply for the semester after you graduate. That's what I'm doing. I graduated a month ago (jeez, that feels weird to say...), and I start the CP in August. I could spare time during college because I was an education major, and I had an internship to do with that program.

I encourage you to apply. And I'm going to leave you with a quote that inspires me, and I hope it inspires you:

"Never limit yourself because of others' limited imagination; never limit others because of your own limited imagination." -Mae Jemison

Don't let fear stop you from trying. You never know what you'll acomplish if you don't try.

I hope I inspired and encouraged you at least a little here. And I really hope that you do apply for the program.

Wow, I really, really appreaciated your post. ^ :D

Thanks for those words. Its not just the time off school that worries me, honestly I'm a very part-time student only working towards a certificate. Mostly the issue is timing the CP with the end of my yearly apartment lease, and leaving my job in hopes that there will be another when I get back.

In a way though, reading about the CP alumni and there experiences, it would be truly a vacation to do the Disney Program. I've worked so much for so long, always stressing over bills and debt and responsibility, the Disney Program seems almost like going away to a Frat house, no responsibilities or nothing. It would sure be nice to work in the program, being guarunteed enough hours and pay, having a free place to stay and even a little money to save. It would be like being a kid again.

I think I won't give up on this dream, even if I can't pursue it right away. But as soon as I can work out all the details, I will apply.

Good. Never give up on your dreams, even if you have to postpone them for awhile. :)

I'm glad you're going to apply. I really hope you get in. :)
