It's been 7 years and I'm way out of practice. Everything is new and different since I was a DL guru who planned trips for all my friends and family. So I'm basically a newbie again.
We had a small financial windfall and are suddenly out of debt. My paycheck is my own again (instead of the car payments and the loan payments' ) and I mused aloud to DH last night, that I'd always wanted to take a solo trip, since I had such fun planning our family trips in 2008. He got out his work laptop, moved around a few things, and said, "Go. You deserve it. I can easily take that week off." So I'm going in 3 weeks, March 23rd-26th! My kids are kind of dumbfounded but mostly supportive. Me, I'm a little shellshocked that it is all happening so fast, and a little worried I'll be lonely. But on the other hand-- I can move at MY pace. I can do what I like to do, instead of taking turns going on the little rides or staying off the big rides with one of the kids. I can eat what I want, when I want, and go, go, go-- or rest whenever I feel like it. And I get a room and a bed and a bathroom to myself, a luxury that a mom of 3 teenaged daughters does not take lightly.
I have lots of questions and am trying to find answers here, but they often seem to be buried deep in 3-year-old threads, so please bear with me if I ask the stuff that's been asked a million times before, and just direct me to the links I need-- that would be great!
