Hello to all who follow me along on my TR for my first solo trip

I just returned last night from Florida, however my WDW trip ended on Monday.. there was a problem with my flight.. mechanical problems and it kept getting pushed further and further out.. I ended up being able to switch my flight from Monday to Wednesday and DH drove 2 hours to come get me.. He is at DMIL's visiting until next week and she lives 2 hours from MCO so they drove out and picked me up and I stayed an additional 2 days in Florida.. my job allows me flexibility so I worked from there..

Im hoping to have my pictures downloaded by Saturday and I will then incorporate them into my TR..

I have wanted to do a solo trip for so long, I cant even remember when it first started, but as far back as I can remember Ive wanted it.. My first trip to the land of the mouse was in 2000 and I fell in love :lovestruc.. that first trip was me, my ex, DD who was 8 at the time and DS who was 6 at the time.. I knew then and there that I WAS going back.. I just didnt know when.. Well me and DH met in 2001 and in 2002 we went on a cruise out of Port Canaveral and I swindled him into a 4 day trip to WDW.. Now DH is NOT a Disney fan like so many of us are.. He actually detested Mickey and the gang for the longest.. and he has a love/hate relationship with Chip and Dale :lmao:.. but he loves me and he agreed to go.. so off we went and I had a blast!! I have since been back many many times since.. Ive been several times with just DH.. We had 1 family trip last year with me, DH, my kiddos, his kiddos and our grandbabies.. Ive been with all 3 of my kids and Ive taken my girls on separate trips.. me and DH have also been and taken DD11.. so if you can make up a combination for it, Ive tried it.. the only one I hadnt done was a solo trip.. I wanted to go last year and chickened out.. so earlier this year I started thinking about it again.. my birthday was in March and I asked DH if I could do a solo trip for my birthday present.. He agreed.. Now I do have to say that DH did not want anything to do with Disney when we first started going, but he actually enjoys going now and looks forward to it.. His favorite Disney ride is Rock n Roller Coaster.. you should see his face light up when he talks about it.. :3dglasses

My DH is the most wonderful, caring, giving man I know.. honestly.. he is! He is the sweetest thing and will do anything for me.. He allows me to do anything I want to do.. He lets me buy anything I want.. If I want it, I get it.. I know, I know.. Im spoiled :cutie: Now compared to my first marriage, that is the total opposite..

As I was getting ready for this trip so many things have happened.. A few months back one of mine and DH's friends passed away from cancer at the age of 47.. I realized then and there that life is too short to not do the things that we want to or to follow our dreams.. My DD11 had back surgery early last month.. she had scoliosis and they had to put in steel rods on both sides of her spine and basically screwed her spine to the rods.. I thought about cancelling this trip, but she bounced back so fast, that I knew she would be ok and she is.. Then my grandmother got really sick a few weeks and we thought we were going to lose her.. she is doing much better now and I hope she is able to hang on.. again, I thought about cancelling, but since she was doing better I decided to go ahead and go.. Then last week I got sick.. but thank goodness I was feeling better by the time I was to leave..

As time was drawing closer to leave I realized that I didnt really know why I wanted to do a solo trip so much.. at first I was telling myself it was because I wanted to do what I wanted to when I wanted to and not have to do what anything one else wanted, etc.. I didnt want to have to wait on anyone, etc.. but you know what?? Even when DH goes with me I dont do these things.. He lets me pick what we will ride.. Im the one that does all the planning and decides which parks on which days.. which tours we will do, which places we go eat at.. He is the most agreeable person I know.. so why do I really want to do this?? I still dont know the answer to that.. I really dont.. so I thought I need to go and find out why..

Ok.. Just wanted to get those thoughts out in the beginning before I start my TR..

My trip was to begin Friday, April 17th and I was to return home on Monday, April 20th.. I was to be staying at Pop Century.. Why PC?? Well it has to do with a certain bag.. yes you heard me right.. I was deciding where I was going to stay based on a picture someone posted of a bag in the giftshop at the hotel.. :lmao: I am a bag lady!! I have tons of bags.. I absolutely love them.. when we went on a cruise last year I came home with 5 new bags :scared1:..

My flight was around 7:30 am on Friday so I was up super super early and had already had everything ready to go the night before.. so I got up around 3:30, took a shower, changed and me and DH were out the door.. now I only live about 15 minutes from the airport and DH was dropping me off, so it was all good.. I was already checked in, so I just had to get thru security, find my gate and play the waiting game.. by the time I got there I probably waited about 30 minutes and it was time to go.. :woohoo:

I landed in Orlando around 10:30 and promptly headed to ME.. Now I didnt have any paperwork as I never recvd it in the mail prior to going.. I had signed up for ME when I made my hotel reservation.. I gave my flight info, etc.. I was getting nervous prior to leaving as I didnt get the little booklet in the mail, so I even called a few days before I left and the CM told me I was in there and to just go to the ME desk and they would check me in and everything would be ok.. so I went to the ME desk to check in and come to find out they did NOT have me in the system.. it wasnt a problem though.. I only had a carryon bag, so I didnt have to locate my bag or anything and I was soon on my way to the hotel.. by the time I got to the hotel it was probably 11:45 or so.. after about a 15 minute wait to check in I was on my way to my room to drop off my bag.. I was excited that the room was ready.. I was in the 80's section I believe, which was a little bit of a walk but not bad at all..

As soon as I walked in the room, what do you think was on the table but a bounceback offer.. If I rebooked before I checked out I could get 20% off on a value resort or 30% off on a moderate or deluxe resort on certain nights.. although it seemed like it was most nights up thru November.. Do you think I rebooked?? You'll have to hold on and you will soon find out..:goodvibes

Once I dropped off my stuff I was on my way to..........

Animal Kingdom!!

Looking forward to hearing more.

I am glad you are doing something for yourself. We all need to do that at some point in our lives.:wizard:

Yeah - for a Solo Trip!!!! :thumbsup2 I took a solo trip in Jan 08, so I can't wait to hear about your trip. I stayed at POP and my first park was AK - go figure! Looking forward to reading more!

on with my 1st day...

I decided to go with AK on my first day because out of the two choices I had, which were DHS and AK, this park was open the latest.. which wasnt late, but it was the latest at 7 pm..

In past I havent spent much time at this park as unfortunately its usually the park we save for our last day and we're usually pooped by then.. so there is so much I havent done in this park.. so thats where I wanted to put my focus, with some of the things I hadnt done before..

This is my favorite thing to see as soon as I walk down the path into the park..

Then it was onto Festival of the Lionking.. The last time I saw this show was on my first trip to Disney back in 2000.. it used to be outside, but now its inside.. it was as great as I remembered but I was disappointed that I didnt get many pictures as it was too dark in there and they just werent coming out..

Heres a few of the better ones..

to continue with Festival of the Lionking.... I thought the show was pretty awesome and my favorite part was the jumping monkeys :lmao: I thought they were so cute.. I do have to say though, that I liked it better when it was outside..

afterwards I just did some walking around and of course taking pictures..

Once you get there, there is a building you can go into and there are some exhibits, etc.. There was a snake in there and the CM was just giving it a mouse :scared1:.. It was a HUGE snake..

Just wanted to update as I havent been back on here to post on my TR.. My grandmom passed away last Monday and things have been quite hectic here.. Once Im able to I will come back later this week and finish my TR..

Thanks..

I'm glad you put the link over here in your PTR because otherwise I don't think I would've found it!

I want to see some pictures of Pop since that's where I'm staying soon! Looks like AK was fun - I love the character pics! Check out the teeth on that llama or whatever it is! WOAH!

Can't wait to read more :)

How do you pass time in line when you do solo trips? I don't know what I would do if i didn't have anyone to talk to.

When I went solo I played a game that I have loaded into my cell phone. It was perfect for passing the time.

I would love to try a solo trip one day. But Dh would probably object! ;)

Yay, I found your TR! I am staying at POP in a week and a a half so I hope you get to the bag part because I want the SAME BAG!!! I remember you posted it on your PTR and I am dying to get that stupid thing so I can't wait to hear about it! Also, looking forward to seeing Pop pictures.

Love the TR so far. Sounds like you had a great time at DAK. Love the pictures!

Waiting for more...................popcorn::

May I just comment the connection that I have to your backstory:

I had the same surgury that your DGD11 had! Granted, I'm 15, but it's been 7 months (already!) and I've bounced back fast as well. True, I took a month and a half out of school (November and December. December also included a school break for the holidays), but I still went back. My back is healing itself (against the odds) perfectly, and my next appointment isn't til October! :woohoo:

Your DGD is so brave and strong for having done that at such a young age. I know I wouldn't have been able to handle it at age 11 (I could barely handle it at 15!)

Lovely TR so far, keep it up :)

Oh no.. I just saw that you are already gone.. I havent been on here in awhile.. we just finished with my grandmoms house on Saturday and my uncle (her brother) has been in the hospital and now nursing home as he is not doing good.. Hoping he might go home soon..

Life has been extremely hectic! I planned on coming on here yesterday to post but my furbaby is extremely sick.. :sad1: Not to be too graphic.. but he was fine on Saturday.. Yesterday I woke up and he had went to the restroom everywhere!!! He had diarrhea-- but it was brownish water.. it was all over my floors.. poor thing though didnt get it on my carpet.. but it was in my entire backend of my hallway.. all over the place by the front door and my bathroom.. He wouldnt eat yesterday.. I thought his belly was just bothering him.. so I put him outside so that he wouldnt get it all over the place as I finally got it all cleaned up.. later in the day I brought him in and he was drinking some water.. I noticed afterwards that there were blood drops all over the place.. I freaked out and turned him over and he had blood all over his bottom! I was so upset.. my 2 dogs are part of our family.. He is like one of my children.. I called the emergency pet clinic and they told me to get him up there.. we rushed him up there and while in the room he acted like he needed to go to the restroom.. blood pooled out of him.. it was nothing but blood everywhere.. :sad1::sad1:they started an iv as they said he was extremely dehydrated and did blood tests.. his red blood cell count was double what it should be to the point of it being deadly.. they said that it actually happens alot to dogs and they dont know why.. Well I had to leave him there last night and the bill was almost $800 :scared1: I couldnt not do it.. I love him so much!! I have to pick him up today by 8 am and take him straight to my vet, which who knows how much that bill will be.. Im freaking out because this was a very much unexpected expense and its taking all we have.. but I feel like I dont have a choice.. My fingers are crossed that he is ok.. I dont know what I will do if something happens to him..

I wanted to tell you that that dumb bag was not at the hotel.. I had to get it at Mousegears at Epcot.. I also saw it at one of the stores on Main Street at MK.. Im so sorry I didnt let you know before you went and I so hope you found it.. because honestly I was on a mission when I was there.. I told DH I was NOT going home til I had that bag.. I literally walked into EVERY store until I found it.. If I remember correctly, those were the only stores I found it at.. I never found it at DTD either..

Thank you so much for your kind words.. Actually shes my daughter.. :goodvibes she is the bravest person I know.. I couldnt believe how fast she bounced back.. she is amazing to me.. She goes to the surgeon this Friday for a check up and Im hoping all is good.. I did notice the other day that there is still a little hump there on one side that I guess I didnt notice before so Im going to have that checked out.. but she looks great!!

You are so brave also!! I honestly dont know if I could have done it.. I see what she went thru and I dont know for myself what it felt like but Im sure it had to be extremely painful.. Im such a baby when it comes to things like that.. I hope you continue to heal.. I think when she gets older she will be glad she had it done.. although she didnt have a choice in the matter, as it was necessary, but none the less, I think it was a good thing..

BettyAnn,

Sorry to hear about your grandma and your poor puppy. I hope and pray your puppy dog is okay. We have a little Beagle mix who is the King of our castle!! Couldn't bear to be without him so I know how you must feel.

Sending Pixie dust your way!!
