So. I forgot to...ya know...tell you all I was leaving in the first place...but...sorry!! <333 I missed you all! Really! And this was my first trip to DisneyLand so I was very far from home and just excited to see land when we got there.
I went to more places than just DL, but I know that's all ya want to hear about XD. Now, this is just my trip report, so if you happen to love Disney Land, I apologize now.
We were only there for two days because all we heard was "that's all you'll need, really, it isn't any where near WDW." so that's all we planned for. We drove by the entrance and my mom's all: "wow, isn't that cool becka! look!" of course, I had no idea it was the entrance and just blurted out "what's that? their entrance to Downtown Disney or something?" when met with silence and just not knowing why I finally realized that that was indeed the entrance to the parks. Oh..okay.
The line to get in was just insane. Kinda, picture a football field right, one end is the entrance to California Adventure, the other is the entrance to the Magic Kingdom. Now imagine that filled with people. Yeah. We stood there for atleast two hours just waiting to get in. Okay, not that big of a deal, I've dealt with long lines. Bring em' on, I say.
You've all heard that WDW sort of..."closes its doors" when the parks get too full, right? These people just...sort of didn't catch on to that. We walked in and there was barely any room to breathe much less walk. Sure our Magic Kingdom gets crowded, but I've never seen a theme park that crowded before in my life. And they weren't even...well, nice! With my experiences in all the WDW parks, most people that work there have the decentcy to say "excuse me!" or "sorry, but may I get through please?" not there. We were shoved into, pushed, and darn near death-glared for not moving fast enough for a cast member. My mental check list for "how becka thinks WDW is better" started there. Rude cast members? Big no-no.
So, being the optimist I am, I sort of made up like six excuses for the guy of "maybe he's just having a bad day!" or something. Great Main St. I loved it. Cramped, but I loved it. That is until I met this growing line standing in the middle of it. Okaaaaay. Maybe there's just some REALLY good breakfast at a resteraunt somewhere...or..maybe the mouse was spotted. Wrong, and wrong again. After choosing someone that looked...approachable and asking them what in the world they were standing in line for we got a "do you not know anything?" look and was informed that "this is the line for Pirates of the Carribean. It just opened today!" Ohhhh okay...-wait what? Pirates? And you're waiting in line on Main street? This line, was like this, all day. 5 hour wait time. And it wound around the entire park. You could barely walk from the different lands because of it. It was that insane. And after asking them "hey, uhm, no offense but is it really THAT good?" the people who rode it looked around almost embarrased and were just like "no...not really."
I will say, their Haunted Mansion was bloody awesome. Ours is "scarier" only because its darker inside and the house is actually more ominous. But I loved the thing and babbled about it all day long. Their Space Mountain was great too. We need music in ours darnit! The Parade of Dreams, was just awesome. Great music, great floats. Greatest part of the day was the parade. Well...all except for their lack of Tinker Bell costume knowledge. I'm sorry...but her wings so do not start on the top of her butt, thankyou.
I think what I really just didn't like about it were the Cast members. They were rude, and just didn't know their stuff. We asked a simple question of "hey, where does Tinker Bell start and stop flying at the fireworks?" the guy looked at us like were nuts and just sort of..."motioned". And when we asked someone else, they glared and told us its in the park information. Bull larkey. There was nothing but ride names and resteraunt names in the park information. No descriptions of anything. And for being caught in the middle of CM's being rude all day I sort of just "had enough of it" and yelled. Loudly. Honestly, I was in tears from being so upset about it by the end of the night. I guess its just one of those "you understand it, or you dont" cries. I tried to explain it something like "To me, the Cast Members truly have to help in making the entire day "magical" and if they don't do that. They aren't doing their job." there was more to it but by then I was just blubbering like an idiot.
I wasn't the only one who liked WDW better. My moms friend from work brought his boyfriend and his kids and happened to be there the same time we were. During the parade, the father, Bill was seperated from his kids and his boyfriend, John. I mean, were too, but we were okay, we were sort of, "across the street" from them. Bill asked the CM standing there nicely "Hey, can I get over to my kids please? I really wanted to see the parade with them." and she was just like "No. You can't. I can't let anyone cross." and when trying to nicely argue that those were his CHILDREN she wouldnt budge. Bill sort of, gave up, but John was rip-roaring angry. He called her over and let her have it: "I have never been treated so rudely in my life! How dare you tell that man he can't see the parade with his kids! Disney is supposed to be about FAMILIES and you people just don't get that! You all need to take a lesson from Disney World and learn how to handle things! I will NEVER come back to this place again, it's a huge joke! Now I suggest you let that man come see the parade with his kids!" and well...she did. But that's jsut pretty sad that he had to get angry and yell at her.
So, California Adventure. We hoped it would be better. Uhm, what was...it supposed..to be about...again? Honestly, we walked in...walked around it, rode Soarin', then left. There was nothing to do there. It was just...well..boring. We were on Paradise Pier and saw Mickey. Well..it's about time. That was one of the only characters we'd seen the entire two days. He was being mobbed and followed by kids. Okay thats normal-but wait a sec, where's his handler? He didn't have one...neither did Goofy who was a little further away. Uhm, do they not understand that kids will just not.."leave them alone?" That was just well, stupid on their part.
They did have the Electrical Parade. My mother cried. That was one of the best parts about it.
Okay. All in all. It wasn't terrible. It wasn't wonderful. It was just..sort of there. I understand it's smaller and they have no room to grow. But still. I'll just shut up and stick to my WDW. The only reason we went was to experience the "other park" the park where Walt actually was. That was nice, knowing that, but I just didn't find it all that thrilling. No offense to anyone who holds DL high in their minds. I just like, and prefer WDW better.
And here are my pics. Sorry if they're big or low quality! <3
This is our view from our hotel. You can see the top of the Matterhorn. We watched the fireworks everynight from there.
The walkway leading to the "football" fieldish entrance to the parks.
