Just returned from 5 nights at POP and wanted to add my two cents...

RE: Food Court
It was very good. I believe the song the employees danced to was The Hustle.

RE: Toliets
Never heard another toliet the entire time. Didn't think they were that loud either. We closed the lid before flushing and that helped.

Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and would stay again!

The employees actually danced to the hustle !!!!!!!!!! Dinner and a Show
Awesome..............Can't wait til June

northern michigan -

Thanks for taking the time to post all this information! And no, not a Packer fan here (but don't advertise that too much). I'm in southern Wisconsin and it is like 2 degrees outside, bet it's even colder "up there" in Michigan. Enjoy the Florida weather! (even if it's 40's, it's better than 2). :flower:

Thanks for all of the good info. Now I'm getting really excited! May can't come fast enough! Oh, and right now it is a whopping 16 degrees in southwestern Michigan. But the wind is freezing cold! 68 in Orlando sounds like a heat wave! :tilt:

Thanks northern michigan! Thank you so much for letting us know all about POP! Thanks for putting up with the slow dial up to give us the 411 even after reading totalia's nasty comment (which buy the way seems to happen alot as I just came from a thread about AKL that had another lovely post courtesy of the aforementioned). Enjoy your stay and have a great trip!! Thanks again!

Thanks! DD8 is better and DD12 just about there. Had a good day at MGM, but man was it packed. We broke our own rules today. We usually go to the EE park until lunch and head to a different park. However, with the girls having been under the weather lately, we've been getting a late start. Today, I had a PS at SCI-Fi so we headed there anyway. It just proved to me again all the great info fellow DISers give. The food wasn't great, but the atmosphere was awsome. It was as previous posters had described.

Back to the POP:

Mousekeeping has been pretty good. They're very prompt for special requests...extra pillows, plastic cups, etc. However, the last 3 days no plastic cups were left in our room. I'm sorry to say we've had no towel animals (I even requested them on my tip envelope). I have seen some elsewhere in the POP.

We tried breakfast at the food court today. My omlette was great as were the potatoes. My DD's did not like the chocolate chip pancakes. They were "hard" at least in the center area around the choc. chips. Neither DD would eat them. DH didn't eat.

Hey No. MI.!
Enjoy the weather...you're coming home to a bunch of snow..all schools closed yesterday and lots of the white stuff here now. mostly from the last two days. Think warm thoughts and have fun!

DD12 tried the Hippy Dippy pool last night just before midnight. She enjoyed it. Had a great am at EPCOT and PSB. Spent the rest of the day and night at MK. It was very busy. You just have to keep moving and crossing from one land into another to find the slow areas. We lived mostly thru fast passes. Enjoyed Pecos Bill Cafe for dinner.

That was most hateful, not to mention uncalled for!! Perhaps you need to bury yourself in a landfill of pixie dust.

Wow. northern michigan, I sure hope that the teeth and claw marks don't leave scars. Hope your baby feels better.
I have to agree, I thought that remark was uncalled for also, I am glad you are taking the time to tell us all what is going on and how the weather is, especially for the people on their way to the area now.
I remember once that I asked which resorts had HBO and was told "you are on vacation why would you bother watching TV? Some people need to think before typing. Yes we are at Disney but it is not all
Disney 24 hours a day, there is some down time.
Have a great time and thanks again for the current info.
Oh and I used to live near you, in Frankfort.

We're taking a little down time today...laundry and pool time. We've got Candlelight Dinner Pkg tonight and transferring to POR tomorrow (Christmas Day). I anticipate it going smoothly. The bus transportation at POP has been quite good. Nothing I can complain about. Had to stand a couple times, but that's expected. I really hope we like POR. My family definitely likes POP. The weather last couple days has been good. Shorts during warm part of day and sweatshirts at night. Cooler for the nex 4 days, but then supposed to be back up into the 70's (the last 5 days of our vacation).

Oh and if you find your internet access is making Disney less enjoyable then maybe your priorities are in the wrong place. Leave the computers at home unless to check e-mail and go enjoy the happiest place on earth. Your at Disney after all.

She said the DIS meaning the DIS Boards. Rude Rude Rude.

It's only the internet. If you want faster then you will have to pay the extra price to stay in a Disney resort that has it.

We're pretty happy with the internet access at Dolphin, although DH says the little network box under the desk is "rate-limiting" us to only 256k, but it seems fine to me.

And I guess it just depends on your personality and lifestyle. For us computers are such an integral part of our lives that leaving them at home would be unacceptable. In fact, this trip has been better because of them because DH setup a webcam at home and pointed it at our cats' favorite spot. So we get to check in on them a few times per day. Being able to see them and verify they're ok (we have a friend coming over to check on them and refill their food and water) has been such a blessing.

So we're enjoying the happiest place on earth but we're not cutting all ties to the rest of the world to do it. :)

The idea of leaving a Kitty-Kam up is the best one I have heard in ages...I was so sad that in a couple of weeks I'm going to have to leave my (relatively) new Kitty home for my trip. Definately gonna try that!

We transferred over here on Christmas Day. I must say it was hard to leave the POP. All the CM's were great! The rooms were very clean and not showing any wear! Even the lifeguards at the pool befriended my DD's. We didn't get any towel animals or extra magical memories. The food was just okay. But, still we loved it. Better than ASMovies and CSR.

POR is showing alot of wear on the other hand. We're in AB; I do like the theme. The landscaping is very lush. I'm under the impression from CM's that the only AB rooms that have been renovated are the ones furthest from the food court, etc. We were originally in building 27 main floor. The tub had hair in it and we were awakened very early by the family on the other side of our connecting door. We are now in building 16 main floor. The night stand had ketchup on it. Needless to say, I miss the mousekeeping and newness of POP. While yesterday was cold and rainy all day; today just simply COLD, we haven't taken advantage of anything but the food court. The choices are more varied than the POP and the food is better tasting. Everything we ordered was made to order: taco salad, grilled cheese, chilli cheese frys and spaghetti. POP food was prepared ahead and simply dished up per plate. My DH did not like any food from the POP. Not even the hot chocolate as it tasted like hot water. We did walk by the main pool here at the POR; the kids are looking forward to trying it. The weather should be warm enough tomorrow. We've been wearing our winter coats the last two days.

On a side note~
Candlelight processional...don't miss this!
Circque LaNouba...don't miss this!

We are staying at POR in March. I'm hoping for Mansion room. Would you be able to transfer over there for the rest of your trip. I think all of the rooms have been renovated, and with all the flight cancellations maybe they can accomodate you.

I'm glad to hear about the good food at the food court! Let us know how the pool is. If you get cold, there's always the hot tub! Are you going to do any cane pole fishing or take the boat to DTD?

the dial-up internet access is soooooo sloooooooow. It makes the DIS much less enjoyable!

At least you got dial-up service at Pop. I tried and tried and eventually gave up. It took me a little while to figure it out at POR, but just couldn't get any of my ph #'s to work at Pop.

The internet actually enhanced my WDW stay. I was gone for 13 days with my 5yo and it allowed me to stay in contact with my DH and children through IM and e-mail. I couldn't exactly forget my real life while at WDW and sometimes had business to conduct (ie, answering questions from my husband, chatting with my older children, etc). My cell phone didn't work inside my WDW rooms, so the e-mail was a nice link (but it didn't work for me at POP). I'm not one that likes to talk on a cell phone for extended periods while touring a theme park, so used the cell phone only when I was taking a break (which wasn't often since we were on the go so much).

I sure don't think that the OP was suggesting that the internet was in any way getting in the way of his enjoyment of WDW, he was just passing along information.

Oops, the OP is a "she", not a "he". LOL Don't know why I assumed the opposite.

Cell phone coverage at POP was great for both DH and I, but he has no service at POR. Obviously we have different carriers. Before trouble brews, let me clarify that we use our cells to stay in contact whenever we split up for short periods.

We do indeed plan to take the boat to DTD from POR.

MK and MGM closed to non-resort guests at some point near lunch time according to our bus transportation driver. We saw guests trying to enter by car being turned around at MGM. FP's were gone by at least mid-afternoon for TOT.

We got our first towel animal from mousekeeping today. In all our four visits on property it's our first, an elephant! Yipeee!
