I don't know, nobody really got called stereotypes at my school in that sense. I mean, we had the bad-natured girl names (I don't need to list them), and jerks and whatever, but no "omgz she's so emoz" or whatever. I dunno, I rarely listened to bands that anyone knew so they didn't know how to stereotype me so maybe that's why I didn't hear any of it.
Those bands aren't even emo.
Try the delicious bands such as Moss Icon, Evergreen, Clikatat Ikatowi, or Indian Summer. Or for harder emo, try Heroin, Swing Kids, or Second Story Window (<3 <3 <3).
...I also don't think you can dress "emo"tionally.
Having a variety of tastes in music is NOT a bad thing, and don't let anyone get you down by what music you listen to. The music you listen to has a lot to do with what kind of person you are and never let stupid immature youngins tell you who you are. I mean, I listen to EVERYTHING from mainstream like all time low (pop-punk) and akon (hip-hop) all the way to extremely indie bands like Bunny Rabbit (electrotrash) and Best Fwends (electro-pop). I listen to screamo, post-emo indie rock, emo, hardcore, oldies, rap, hip-hop, pop-punk...pretty much anything that has a nice beat or good lyrics.
So basically tell 'em to shove it since they don't know what they're talking about.
