Ok, so I've got a problem. I'm addicted to the DIS Unplugged Podcasts. It's like a need. If I'm not listening to Pete, Kevin, John and crew talking roundtable, I get a very unhappy feeling! It was like an epiphany the day that I downloaded the first podcast. I said to myself "How have I been subsiding without all of this?" I'm guessing that my story is not unique. I downloaded the first podcast and listened to it and then went back and downloaded all the others. I've been listening to them backwards now. I think I'm somewhere back in February now.

I don't know if Pete and the crew actually check in on these threads or not. I've not been actively posting on the DIS but for a little over a month now. However, in case the podcast crew is reading this, you guys are HIL-LARRY-US! No, really! When I listen to the show, I feel like I'm sitting in a diner, not a knock-off diner, either. . . I mean a REALLY GOOD DINER - and we're all gathered in a booth drinking coffee. You ALL have a knack of making us, the total stranger out there in cyberspace, feel like a part of a close knit group of friends. I can not thank all of you enough for making my hour and fifteen minute commute to and from work a pleasure. There have been moments on the show where I've laughed out loud so hard that I was literally wiping tears from my eyes. I also appreciate your understanding that there are younger ears listening to the show, too. I have no reservations about letting my son listen in on the podcasts. There are some moments where adult humor is hinted at and everybody that's the appropriate age will "get it" and I think it's brilliant.

As if all that entertainment isn't enough, the shows provide a wealth of information about Disney World, Disneyland and other attractions in Orlando. I appreciate your HONEST look at things Disney and other companies are doing. In other words, I'm glad you all aren't simply fanboys and fangirls. Which, by the way, when Pete went off on the D-23 debacle, I thought I was going to wreck my car! I must admit, before I ever knew of the DIS Unplugged podcast, I'd looked at that and thought "What a rip off!" So, Pete's appraisal of the "club" was right on the money, in my opinion.

Anyhow, I just wanted to say "Hi!" to everybody in the Podcast crew and the Podcast community! Keep up the excellent show and "Thank you!" for the DIS boards! :disrocks:

Hi irun :welcome:
We've all fell victim to the show. We really appreciate the Team's unbiased views of Orlando's theme parks, resorts, and restaurants. The crew and their unbiased opinions is what makes the show so special.

We really love this show and this community.

P.S. Enjoy your first DVC stay. DVC is a great program!

THANKS!!!!:yay:

We're all excited about being DVC Members. We'd toured for the past three summers and this December, when BLT went on sale, we could hold our no longer. The irony of it all is that we're going to be staying at SSR for 8 nights and we still wound up paying OOP for another stay. We're going to try a split stay for the first time. When we check out of SSR, I booked a Savannah View room at Jambo house for four nights. So this will be a Summer of firsts. It will be our first stay as DVC Members and our first trip to the AKL. I just don't know what I'm going to do without the podcast during the trip!!! God, I'm a sick man!

Hi irunnoft!!!!!!

Yes....all of the Podcasters check in here and post fairly often.....some of us more than others.

Just wanted to say Hello and welcome to the fold.

This is the BEST group of folks anywhere on the net.

I think the podcast should go to three times per week. Twice is not enough.

AGREED!!! I thought I was going to lose my mind hitting the refresh button on my iTunes podcast update button!!!! :rotfl: What a relief to see it update yesterday afternoon!

I've got to get far enough back into the podcasts to learn about Bob. I haven't heard him on a show yet; I've only heard him referenced in several of the shows. I understand there is great reverence for him, but I've not had a chance to "get acquainted" with him yet. I will say this, I saw a video he shot when he took a scooter through HS during a Star Wars Weekend that was pretty hilarious!

Now we just have to get you on the next podcast cruise.......

I was already thinking that when listening to the past few podcasts about the most recent cruise. I also need to get my wife to drink the podcast Kool-aid! By the way, you're avatar looks delicious!! Too bad it's not scratch-n-sniff.

Ooooh! Scratch-n-sniff avatars! That could be a very BAD thing!

When I first started listening to the podcast, I thought Pete was saying "From the Bob Marley Studios in Florida. . ." :rotfl:

Okay, Okay I am almost as new to this podcast thing as you (I'm already back listening to December), but I still think I hear "From the Bob Marley Studios..." So call me stupid, but what does it say?!?!

Welcome, we all have similar stories about how we have become Podcast Junkies. Initially started with finding the DIS while planning a trip and now we have to have our Daily DIS Fix.

Pete says Bob Varley Studios (Yes, it does sound like he says Marley)

but I still think I hear "From the Bob Marley Studios..." So call me stupid, but what does it say?!?!

Pete says "From the Bob Varley Studio"

Bob was one of the original members of the Podcast team amd passed away unexpectedly on April 28, 2008.

Bob was a dear, dear friend and a beloved member of the team.

Our show changed after Bob passed. There was no way to replace him.

I am sure that you will hear references to Bob for years to come. He was a huge part of our show and we miss him every day.

As you listen to older shows, you will hear his voice and his humor. There was recently a show marking the one year anniversary of his passing.

Hope that helps.

I totally agree. I found the show and started listening in the fall in preparation for our April 09 trip. The week before we left I had listened to every show.

The only problem is I now have only 2 shows a week.

PS Listen from the beginning and you will feel like you were there for all the great Bob moments.

PSS Also bought BLT while we were there in April. Thanks to the DIS I was well prepared.

Yes we read these posts. I am Kathy on the Podcast. We have a great time sitting around the round table doing the shows. I am glad you enjoy them.

O.K. if you want to get her hooked then just offer her a comfortable place to sit and then play a few dining reviews for her. The first one that comes to mind is a review that Kevin gave of a Disney restaurant, his worst experience in one, and Pete made the comment that if the manger did a certain something to him, he would be pulling back a bloody stump.
Here is the link http://www.wdwinfo.com/podcast/roundtable104-082008.mp3
The review starts at about time stamp 1:00:00 and is for the Captains Grill in the Yacht Club Resort.
The review before this one is for Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge and is a good review for that restaurant.
Another good one is regarding the Coral Reef restaurant from way back in 2006, featuring the "Sad Little Crab Cake".
Link to that show is http://www.wdwinfo.com/podcast/roundtable3-080806.mp3
The review starts at 0:15:00, and the link to the pic of the crabcake is http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-podcast/8-8_photos.htm (although it is no longer available)
DH was a podcast listener for about 6 months before I became a listener, fan, and worshipper of the podcast when I started listening to Kevin's dining reviews I was hooked. I have come a long way in one year.
I have listened to every podcast in the archives, and as you can see by my post count, I like to have my say. :rotfl2::lmao:
My DH had tried to get me to read the boards and listen to the podcast.
I couldn't get what was so great. Then Kevin's dining reviews changed my life.:rotfl2::rotfl2:
I love that they give you their experiences straight up.:thumbsup2
Keep us posted and let me know how things go! :thumbsup2

I have heard the love you all have for Bob in the shows I have listened to. I also loved the Video episode "Send Bob to Star Wars Weekend" I looked on You Tube and found the video of Bob making Dole Whips to take to the studio and it is truly hilarious. I think I will have to jump back further in the podcasts to hear a little bit of Bob.
I just listened to an intro and nowI hear "Bob Varley"
Thanks for the Podcasts, I love the humour they bring to my life. They may get expensive though because now I want to book Podcast Cruise 2.0:eek:

Hi Kathy! Didn't you do a review on a more recent podcast about the Manta at Sea World? If that was you, I loved it! How cool is that. . . taking the kids out of school to go to that "appointment" *cough* *cough*!
