I'm already 6 months out....do I HAVE to make my ADRs now?

I am booking our trip tomorrow morning. I have a list of the EMH, etc., but I have yet to sit down and plan things out. I have a full-time teaching job and 3 kids to drive all over the place. If it takes me a few weeks to plan the trip out, is there any risk of not having room at any of the sit-down restaurants on thie dining plan? We aren't doing Victoria and Albert's or CRT, or probably any other restaurant that takes 2 credits.

You should be fine. I'm usually switching my ADR's up until the last minute anyways. The only restaurant that I've been hearing about ADR's going quickly is LeCellier.

I called for ours at 120 days out (I'm obsessive!) and got everything we wanted - some of them were within 10 minutes of what I asked for, but I definitely consider that getting what we wanted. ;)

You should be fine - think about how many people don't even know about ADR's, much less that we can do 180 days now.

We actually still booked ours 90 days out...we booked right before the change. Anyway, I called at 9 the morning of the 90th day and got everything we wanted, at every time we wanted. I think there is an advantage to booking early, but if you don't, you should be fine.

We've walked in at some restuarants before, so I think it just depends from time to time.

Thanks. I'm a pretty good planner and the first trip in 2000 DH thought I was nuts, but once he saw how smoothly things go when they are planned out he was converted. We aren't so obsessive we can't vary a little, though. I need to do more research on EMH and crowds, etc. before I firm the plans up. We last left WDW on 1/2/04, and believe me, everything has changed--PSs are now ADRs, tickets are different, two of our kids are not "adults" although the middle child is only going to be 11...It's nuts.
We do want to do LeCellier, maybe on my BDay, so I will probably do that one first.

We booked just over 90 days out for our upcoming April trip and got everything that we wanted when we wanted. I think that a lot of people don't know that the booking window has been expanded.

I agree that a lot of people aren't very aware of ADR's in general, or the 180 day rule. I called exactly at 180 days to get the ones I really wanted (CRT, LeCellier, Fantasmic Pkg) and just called back a couple of days ago to make a few more. I still have two more ADR's to make, but I'm not worried. I don't think you have to have all of them decided--do make the most important ones ASAP, and the rest will be gravy. Especially if you manage to do it before 90 days out, when a lot of people with outdated guide books will just be starting to call themselves, I don't expect a problem.

I'm out of the loop a bit. Are Priority Seatings now called ADRs? I'm assuming that means Advance Dining Reservations? :) Sorry I'm a dope! I don't frequent the boards when I don't have a trip in the works as it depresses me so I miss a LOT of info!

I am going to play devil's advocate here and say you should make your ADR's as soon as possible.

Maybe people don't know about the 180 day window yet, but they certainly will. Also, you are going during a very busy time and getting what you want is worth the extra effort.

I made mine at exactly 180 days out and got everything I wanted. I now don't have to worry about anything. If I need to change, there is a good possibility I still can, but I don't like the thought of "maybe" and "possibly"

Sorry, it's just that if you're spending that much on dining, you should take the time and get what you want.

Just my .02
