I'm Almost a CSR!!! ***UPDATE***

I've been in court reporting school for almost four years now. Well, now all I have to do is pass one more test and I'll be qaulified to take the state certification exam in April!!! WOO HOO!!! I'm so excited. Don't ever let anyone try to tell you court reporting school is easy to get through. It's been a long bumpy road, and I'm lucky compared to the others that take 8 years or more to finish! Once I qaulify, I'll have up to a year to pass the state test and they give the test every three months. I'm gonna pass it the first time I take it though...I'm very opitimistic about it and I'm sooooooooo excited

Wow! That is wonderful! And I can only imagine the work involved to become one! I know for sure I could never do it!

Do you realize that court reporting is not all you will be able to do. There is a great demand for qualified people to do CART for the deaf as well.

Oh yes...believe me we know ALL the possibilities. Not only is there official reporting but there's also freelance reporting, CART (which is something I'm actually getting into and will be doing some interning in the next month or so with it) captioning (you know the closed captioning on tv that you see? yep, I can do that too! . I would like to try my hand in captioning but two things are kind of holding me back. 1) The fact that MILLIONS of people will be watching what I'm writing and if I mess up they will all point and laugh. 2) The training institute for the National Captioning Institute is in Virginia and I'd have to train there for at least 2 months. They just recently opened up an office here in Dallas, but they don't have trainers here yet. Anyway, the possibilities are endless and it's comforting to know that I'm trained for something that there will ALWAYS be a need for
