has anyone added a young driver onto their booking?
or a young person booked separately?

what were your experiences?
dd told me we could add her for $25 per day, but then obviously tax and whatever else makes this rather expensive.

we have now booked with virgin-
ive seen on their flydrive page the platinum package covers young drivers;
however, does it fully?!
no idea how much extra it would cost this way either..

or, she hires a little car just for her separately for part of the holiday;
as us rent a car has young driver options?

im waffling again-sorry-any ideas folks?

most rental agencies have a young driver surcharge (21 to 25 years old)

rule of thumb : adding a young driver with make the price double.

renting a separate car will be more expensive than adding her to the existing reservation.

the platinum package will include the underage fee for your DD but it's also quite expensive, and probably more expensive than booking direct with AVIS or Alamo and paying the underage fees.

you'll need to shop around and compare.

You have to book a flydrive package to take advantage of their "Exclusive Platinum Package"
If you book the car on its own thru VH site then even upgrading to Platinum doesn't include under 25's (or baby seats)

You need to check the T&C's very carefully, most will not cover under 25's in SUV's, full size being the largest they allow them to drive.

Our Son passed his test 2 years ago and will be 21 in July a few days before our August trip, he still hasn't been behind the wheel since he passed his test due to insurance costs (and excellent train service to Uni) £3k to add him to our BMW I have been looking at options to add him in Florida.

When we used car on the drive there was no young driver supplement for my 23 year old son.
I also added him to my Hertz reservation part way through a trip as I was unwell and I am sure it was just the $25/day they charged - this was a Dodge Grand Caravan we had. I know they skipped the extra driver fee as he has the same surname as me (instead of free spouse) and only charged for the time we needed it not the whole rental. I thought it was quite reasonable.
