Reservations at POR 12/4-12/14. Now I find out that the Pop Warner kids will be there, as well as, at one of the value resorts. I've made 7 phone calls. No one at Disney knows if they teens will be in Alligator Bayou or Mansions. They believe they will all be in the same building, but no way of knowing what building that will be. Even if they put us really far away from where the teens are, that doesn't mean they won' t be walking around at night, being noisy like teens can be. Do they have any sort of curfew? Is this going to make grabbing milk for the boys at the food court a nightmare? Should I switch resorts now, while I can still get a few days using Best Rate? We chose this resort because it looked so serene. Having thousands of teenagers around doesn't seem to fall into that category. Please advise!

We've been at POR the last three years with Pop Warner (once in the same building) and had no real problems. One morning the girls were practicing cheers in the courtyard outside the room, but it was well after 8:30 AM, and it was kind of fun watching them. The food court does get busy, but they usually start out early in the day and don't come back until very late. We didn't notice any real noise, but we live in a very noisy area, directly across the street from a busy train station, so we're not really good judges of noise!

We never saw any problems at all with the kids. Any problems that we observed were, without exception, caused by the adults with the group.

I would too, we were there last year when they were...and I didnt think anything of it, but the cm at check in kept telling me if I have ANY problems with noise and such to contact them...I thought that was odd, but went on anyway....it was just a bit much, they can be incredibly loud and hyper, dont get me wrong good for them, go and have fun but that might not be the way YOU want to experience your resort. I remember we were sitting on the boat to go to DTD, it was just us and 2 other couples, then as we were about to leave, 50 pop warner cheer leaders swarmed the boat, as they approached the captain said "I apologize for what you are about to experience" :rotfl:
the WHOLE ride they were belting out their cheers, and screaming and cackling, couldnt wait to get off the boat

We have been at all stars many times while pop warner kids have been there. They have always been well behaved and very well supervised. We have never had a problem. Remember..they are there to do their sport..so you really don't see them around the resort that much, maybe a bit in the evening while they take a quick swim before turning in.

The only, and I mean the only time we have ever had a problem with a group of kids and noise was the cheerleading competition. These girls were poorly supervised, up late into the evening, running around, screaming, acting foolish.

I was worried when we were making our plans, but luckily we are checking out of POR on 12/4. If it was me I would move if I could. We don't have very good luck when we travel together as a family, so I wouldn't knowingly add to what could be more unluckyness!! LOL

Can you switch to PO-FQ. It as nice IMHO. There have been report of Pop warner kids at CBR as well. Some have posted they never had any problems others have said it was a nightmare. Those bad post have mostly been at the val ues.

Good Luck!!

If it wouldn't be a hardship to change resorts, I would definitely do it.

I know that many folks have stayed at the resort with Pop Warner and didn't have a problem with the kids in terms of noise, or stressful meal times, but it could turn out the other way around for you. And IMO, I don't think you should take that chance.

Well, I've been on the phone with a marvelous CM named Angela. She checked all around and, other than moving to a deluxe resort, there is really no place for us to go for that long a stay. She said that POR will be overflow for POP WARNER and thus, we wouldn't want to tranfer to a value, because they will fill those first. They have put a note on my ressie that I wish to be located as far away from them as possible, but that's about all we can do. I'm looking at off-site hotels, but unless it's going to save me a ton of money, I think we wind up staying at POR and just hope for the best. Thanks to everyone for all the advise. If I had realized they would be at POR, a week ago, I could have moved to a different resort using Best Rate, but now, we are out of that window for the entire time they will be there.

I'm sure you will have a great time, Really you don't spend all the time at the hotel. Have a wonderful trip.

We are a Pop Warner family (hopefully we'll be there too :teeth: Football playoffs are coming up soon and then we will know who is going to the Super Bowl.

The info that is on the Pop Warner website shows All Stars Sports and POR as the resorts to choose from. We have to book through Disney Sports Travel--so we have no choice. ;)

I think that most people opt for the least expensive resort first, so you might be o.k. at POR. I think you did the right thing by making a request with CRO as to your preferences.

Hope it works out for you. Hope you have a great trip.

We didn't have a problem with them at POR..just the values. We did stay away from the pool bar, which is where a good part of the chaperones seemed to hang. And we used the quiet pools at night. During the day they were off doing their thing. We had a rental, and I understand the buses are very noisy with them on.
The values wiht Pop Warner? {{shudder}}

from your most recent post, it looks like you are locked in to POR... my advice is to go expecting it to be fine and if it's not, ask then to be moved... while POFQ might not have any availability on "paper" they may have something open up once you are there... the last thing disney wants is an unhappy guest... heck, you may even get bumped to a deluxe! but that's not likely 'til you at least give it a try! good luck!

Wow, such differing opinions. Have those of you that are saying to change resorts, even if you have to be offsite, actually been there for Pop Warner week? I was at ASMusic with them in Dec. '03 and we had no problem whatsoever!! Sure, there were bunches of kids, mostly girls, doing some cheer type stuff around the pool area. But it didn't bother us at all. For the most part the kids were very well mannered. Yes, you could have the bad fortune of being close to a group with a chaperone who doesn't do their job. But, call the front desk and let them know about it.
POR is so spread out that the only time you might have an issue is at meal times. These groups do tend to eat in a bunch at the same times. What we did was try to eat early or late. The pool area might be impacted but for the most part, especially during the week, the kids are off at their competitions..not at the resort.
I would try to relax and not worry too much. When you check-in (and do that as soon as is humanly possible) ask again for a room that is in an entirely different area than any Pop kids. You should be fine!!!!

Thanks again, to everyone! I began thinking I'd switch to a DTD resort and started looking into those. I could save a little $$ per night, but with 8:00am ADRs, we'd have to take a taxi at $14.00, just to get to the ADRs on time. Plus, we would not be able to use Magical Express from and to the airport, so a taxi for all of us with the luggage would be $45 each way. That savings is starting to dwindle. I liked the Grosvenor Disney view room, but then I started looking at the comments on the off-site hotel thread and I'm thinking my best bet is to stay put, at the resort we've had ressies for since February, and hope for the best. I'm thinking the odds of us having a bad time are higher by moving than by staying. We will only be at the resorts in the evenings, anyway, and I have NO problem contacting security if they are keeping us awake. And, being that it is a competition, I would hope they would be getting their rest so they would have more energy the next day. :rotfl2:

I guess I'm calmer now. Mostly because I really don't have much of a choice. Moving to POFQ wouldn't really help with the whole food court situation. We are just going to think magical. It would confuse Tinkerbell if we moved now. She's going to be delivering golden tickets each morning, along with little presents that are themed for that day's events. Would have to confuse the poor thing. :rotfl:

I think you will be ok. The bulk of the Pop Warner crowd will be at the All Stars and as mentioned the overflow will be at POR. I wouldn't want to stay with them at the All Stars, but POR is a different story, I bet they can find you somewhere quiet.

As for the Food Court - those are always hit and miss as to crowds. You can run into a packed food court at anytime of the year.

We were at Disney in March and the Cheerleader groups were outragous!!! While we didn't have them at POFQ we were litterly run over by them in MK and MGM!!! My twin granddaughters were going up the ramp at MK to get on the monorail and a horde of them were coming down. They were yelling and screaming (not cheers!) and running down the ramp. One of the teens knocked the hat off my granddaughter and when Becca bent down to pick it up three others just ran over top of her!!!! At MGM they took over the place!! There were no seats in resturants or at the counters. They pushed and shoved where ever they wanted to go and the chaparones just meekly tagged along behind them, oblivious to what was going on. We Will NEVER go again when there are sport kids (esp.the cheerleaders!) at Disney!! It was very nerveracking!!!!

How do you know when that is? We are heading to WDW for "Jersey Week." We are not from New Jersey and I had never heard of "Jersey Week" before I joined these boards. Some of the "Jersey Week" threads have me a little nervous about crowd levels, but what can I do but just enjoy my vacation anyway.

I am seriously starting to wonder what time of year to plan our next Disney vacation. September is hurricane month, October is convention month, November has "Jersey Week" and Thanksgiving, December has Pop Warner and the holidays, February has President's Day (aren't cheerleaders here somewhere too?), March and April have spring break, and June, July, and August have summer crowds and summer heat. So what does that leave us? Are January and May our only options? I am sure I am missing something and those months have something as well. In fact, aren't there graduation nights in May?

I am seriously asking, what month should we be heading to WDW if we want comfortable temps and low crowds? I honestly think the choices are becoming more and more limited.

I would love anyone's input as to what time of year they think is the best. ::MinnieMo
