I can't believe I did this! DD earned the right to attend the "Breakfast of Champions" at her school this morning. It's for kids who don't get detentions, pink slips, academic warnings, etc all year. She worked really hard this year and deserved it!
Well.....I forgot all about it!!! So did she. I just have this awful heaving feeling in my chest right now. Because I'm sure when she got to school and realized what she had missed......

The unbelievable part is that I THOUGHT it was yesterday and THOUGHT I forgot about it yesterday. Then when she came home, we figured out it was today, and we had a discussion about NOT forgetting!

Man do I feel stupid. :sad2:

:grouphug:

Unfortunately, we aren't perfect...we are human! I'm so sorry this happened though. Maybe you could make it up by taking DD for a Dinner of Champions...let her pick a special place to eat. I know it's not the same, but just a suggestion.

Again, :grouphug:

That's a GREAT idea! You are so sweet, thank you for your suggestion, and your support.

So am I....

This year I missed MY DD's FRESHMAN orientation for High School....took dd's word that she didn't HAVE to be there at this time, that she could go at any time during the day...
I had been waiting YEARS for that day.

And my younger dd won 1st place in a writing competition....her first trophy EVER and I missed it. School did not tell us.... She got it an an awards assembly for this competition.

DS 8th grade didn't tell me about the academic awards night. I knew it was coming just didn't know when (the high school sends out letters looks like jr. high would too). Anyway I get to the beauty shop with dd and school secretary asks why I'm not at ceremony. I feel like a moron. I call ds he says no one is going so he didn't bother telling me. By this time I can't get him and get to the school. I see another parent that I know has a dd that should be there and I ask her are you going to the awards ceremony? She says no dd didn't want to go she would get her awards at school the next day. Then dd and I go to eat after hair appt. and I run into some parents and teachers that did go. One of them let me know how hard the counselor and a couple of teachers worked on the program like I didn't feel bad enough. I did mention that the high school sends out letters maybe the jr. high should do that too. Apparently some of these 8th graders took upon themselves this year to not go and not tell us parents.

Must be something about boys. When my son was in the 8th grade he decided I didnt need to know that it was "Conference Night" at his middle school. DD was in 6th grade and DH and I were under the impression this night was for 6th graders only.
When we were getting ready to leave, I casually asked one of the teachers which night was going to be for 8th graders? She replied: TONIGHT is for ALL the school grades! :confused3  :sad2: :rolleyes1
So DH and I go over to the 8th grade wing. When one of our "wonderful" sons teachers realized we were there she quickly grabbed a few of his other teachers and we had an impromptu meeting.

Seems my son told his teachers I was a Professional Bowler and was away at a bowling competition and would not be able to ever come in for any Parent Nights nor Conferances :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I replied with the fact that I was on a Wednesday morning Ladies league, nothing special and certainly NOT a PRO bowler!! What a piece of work!!

Needless to say, he was shocked when we got home and mentioned we had met all his teachers. :rotfl:

Hang in there! It will only get worse! :lmao: :rotfl2:

A lot of the time these things are harder on the parents than on the kids. Sorry your DD missed the breakfast!

My favorite forgetting story was when my DD was in 5th grade. I was in school one day for some reason and ran into anther mother. She mentioned that I was probably there bringing my DD's birthday snack into the class (her DD had the same birthday and that's why she was there). Well, uh, no, I'd totally forgot about bringing in a birthday snack that year and of course felt terrible for forgetting. It was the last day before winter break (my DD has a Christmas Eve birthday), so I couldn't even send it in the next day. I think I sent it in after winter break. The good news is that in spite of me, she grew up ok and is now in college. :)

THIS was hilarious!!!!

But <<<<<hugs>>>>>> to the OP!! i like the idea of a special dinner out just for her!! maybe even get her a small something as a congrats :)

I had a similar thing happen a month ago. We are building a new middle school here and they had a ground breaking ceremony on a Saturday morning. As we had a busy day, we opted not to attend. Well....when my friend got home from the ceremony she called to find out why we didn't attend. I couldn't believe she would even care, I mean, what was the big deal. WELL..... apparently a few special kids were chosen to receive a "golden shovel" and to help with the ground breaking, and DD was one of those kids!! She was never notified by her teacher. It was heartbreaking... she missed out on meeting Judge Souter and having her picture in the paper and everything. She was VERY mad at me for not attending the groundbreaking any how, but I couldn't see the point! Oh well..... live and learn..............P

Turns out DD didn't miss the breakfast after all! :cool1: It seems the breakfast is DURING school hours and not before school like I originally thought.
She even won a door prize! I'm so happy, and so is she!
Thanks everyone for your support and your "bad mommy" stories. They sure did make me feel better (and laugh!)

Dinner out is nice or maybe pick her up from school if you can arrange it and take her to lunch. My daughters used to love that. I wish I still drove so I could that again.

:cheer2: Yeah! All's well that ends well! :cheer2:

And you are quite welcome for the support! Like I said...we're human, even though sometimes we do seem to be SuperMommy! :lovestruc

And to the Pro Bowler mom.... :rotfl2: Sounds like you've got a marketing major on your hands! :thumbsup2

Yep we are human! Ya take her out, you can even get her a special ribbon or something at a party store! Most of all, let her know mistakes happen and you are sorry, she will be better of for that than any award.
