As many of you know, I had a UTI a couple months ago. Well, it hasn't entirely gone away - even yet. Right before going to wdw I went to the doctor, and had some more tests run: a test for bacteria and a PSA. The bacteria test came out clean but the PSA came out at 22. The day after we returned from wdw, my doctor called and insisted that I see a urologist. (I have an appt for the 22 now) She didn't say the C word but she sounded worried and after checking out the internet I can understand why. Now I am on pins and needles wondering what the Urologist is going to say. Anyway - keep some good thoughts and a little P&P for me please?

Saying a prayer for you - please try to remain calm and positive. Hope everything is ok - please keep us updated.

Sometimes an elevated PSA can mean a simple prostatitis, an infection of the prostate. It does not always mean the C word. Often the infection can come on the heels of a UTI. I work in a medical office, and I always tell our patients, don't panic until you're given a reason to. Of course that is easier said than done when it is you, but try and not worry yourself. A referral for a urologist is the automatic response to an elevated PSA. Has your doctor done a PSA ratio yet? Our urologist usually insists on it before an appointment is even booked, just a suggestion, not second guessing your MD. Good luck and good thoughts!

What's a PSA ratio? She did two PSAs a week apart. The first was 22 the second was 20. I still have Some of the UTI symptoms though the bacterial infection is supposably gone now. The one thing I take heart in is that I am awfully young for Prostate cancer at 37.

I don't know anything about what these results mean but just saying a prayer that things will all be fine. I'm glad you came here for support.

DH has chronic prostatitis, but he was pretty convinced it was cancer until he saw the urologist.

Fortunately the 22nd is fast approaching. Best wishes.

P & PD. Please keep us updated.

You'll be in my prayers. I hope everything turns out fine.

I remember you posting about the UTI. I hope the C word doesn't have to even be mentioned next week. {{hugs}} ~pd~ and prayers for you.

But, I administer "C"-word disability claims. Some good Pixie Dust for you....I have never seen a 37 yo with prostate cancer. Most of the claimants I have seen have been in their 50's and 60's. Rising PSA can also be prostatitis, as stated above. The "C" word can also be VERY successfully treated.

The worst thing about your experience is probably waiting for the doctor to give you your results. Keep positive and busy to keep your mind off of it. I hope for excellent results for you.

I just want to say how great you all are. Thanks for the support.

I am not familiar with any of this, but I just wanted to wish you all the best and let you know that you'll be in my prayers.

poohbear105573 what she said was comforting, but im like you, I freak out with anything thats just not right, already prayed for you

I'm so sorry your dealing with this buddy. . . it sounds like the odds are it's something minor, but I don't blame you a bit for being worried- I would be too. . :(

Hang in there- I'll say a prayer that whatever it is your doctor can easily treat it and you can get all this off your mind ASAP. . good luck my friend and let us know how it goes. . :) :)

Prayers, pixie dust, and ((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))) for you, one_cat! I hope everything works out fine.
