My husband and I are doing a split stay for our Aug trip (Aug 8 - 23).

This was the plan (till today):
Aug 8 - Aug 14 - Pop Century Standard Room
Aug 14 - Aug 16 - Coronado Springs Standard King Room
Aug 16 - Aug 19 - Royal Pacific (Universal)
Aug 19 - Aug 24 - Caribbean Beach Resort Standard King Room

Then, I discovered today that I booked an extra night at CBR. :headache: We're supposed to be checking out on Aug 23. However, I apparently have to cancel and rebook the room. Of course, as my luck would have it, all rooms except the Pirate ones (which we have no interest in) are now sold out at CBR.

Coronado Springs has a standard King room for the duration of our stay at $208 per night (would have been paying $170 per night for Caribbean).

Should I just go with Coronado Springs instead? I was kinda looking forward to staying at Caribbean Beach (just so we could be insane and try out 4 resorts in 1 trip), but I can't get the room I want without paying for the extra night. :guilty:

-------

Anyhow, I guess since it would now cost us about the same $ to stay at either Caribbean Beach or Coronado Springs, it all comes down to which resort to choose. If our main priorities are:

1. Nice rooms
I've looked at room photos so I do have an idea of what they look like. i prefer Caribbean's beach theme but am quite partial to Coronado's lack of a shower curtain.

2. Fast and reliable transport to the parks
I've checked the distance in terms of miles, but does 1 resort have a more convoluted bus system than the other?

3. Romantic-ness
I guess Port Orleans would be the choice for this, but both POFQ and PORS are a little too steep for a trip as long as ours.

Which would you recommend out of the two? (Sorry if this question has been asked many times before. I've done forum searches, but a lot of the threads are either pre-refurbishment OR the focus has been on a family with kids).

-------

Thanks to all for taking the time to help derpy ol' me. :eeyore:

First thing I would do is call and ask to speak with Guest Services. They have the ability to drop that last night without there having to be another room available for the new nights whereas the frontline phone CMs do not. Sometimes they say no, but I would at least try.

First, try calling.

If you aren’t successful in dropping the night just stay a CBR and eat the cost of the extra day- it’s still cheaper than switching to CSR for the duration.

If you stay at one resort instead of a split stay you will have one fast pass window instead of multiple fast pass windows.

I have never stayed at CBR. CSR has a very nice feel....we were in Casitas in April and I found the greenery and fountains very pleasant. It was definitely a nice resort for night time strolls and drinks by the lake- I was not having that kind of trip, but I noticed small groups of adults lounging and chatting at night. I liked the refurbished rooms.
(I haven't had enough coffee to process the logistics/$ and actually give advice :coffee:)

ETA we did not have any trouble with CSR buses last year. We liked being near bus stop 2, the first stop for buses heading to the parks.

I'll try this! Thanks for the advice.

Yes, I did think about that. I did want to insert Universal in the middle of my trip because I wanted to start with Disney and end with Disney. :P My initial plan was to stay at Pop Century during the Disney portions of my trip, but I could only get a preferred pool view room at Pop, and I didn't really want to pay more to be near the pool (we're not going to swim, so I'd prefer not to be near the pool activities). Hopefully I'll be able to get some good FPs for the first part of my trip. I think we'll make it work (I hope)!

That does sound very nice. I do like the refurbished rooms at Coronado a little more than the ones at Caribbean Beach. Although, I do like the fact that Caribbean Beach is pretty near to both Epcot and DHS. I guess whatever the scenario is, we'd get to stay in either of these nice places, so it's not too bad.

Agree with both of the above ;).

Good luck! Hope everything works out :).

We prefer CSR over CBR. It feels smaller, like the food, and just the overall feel of the resort. But I don't think you can go wrong with either.

To each their own, but we prefer to end our trip with our Universal stay. Knowing we have Universal to look forward to helps to ease the sadness of leaving Disney. It's also a nice, relaxing way to end our vacation after being on the go at Disney for several days. At Universal, there's no need for much planning and since you'll have express pass, you can sleep in and go at your leisure. It's just a nice way to end things for us.
