Illuminations...Will We Have TIME?

I think the problem is this would be the hardest meal to rush.

I've never been there, but I'm assuming its just like Benihana service wise in that the pace of the meal is set by your chef and can't be rushed.

1) My odds are no.
2) At 7:50, they are usually running late, so add 10-15 minutes.
3) And, service is paced by the very nature of the meal.
4) You cannot ask to "get my order in first".
5) You are cooked with everyone else at the same time.
6) I think you will be late for the start of the show.

When we were at Epcot, we watched Illuminations from the Japan pavillion. Where Teppan Edo, Tokyo Dining is , they have a balcony there where you can get a good view

There are only a few tables at Tokyo Dining that are by the window - and I'm not sure how much of the show you can see.

If you are seated at your table for dinner at Teppan Edo, there aren't any windows. You would have to leave your table to go outside to stand on the balcony to see.

Also keep in mind, if you want a prime viewing spot, people usually start "sitting" in those spots at least an hour before the show.

With a 7:50PM reservation, I think you would be cutting it close. If you don't mind being a little late or where you stand to see them, then I would keep.

We had a 750pm reservation last month and finished exactly at 9pm. My husband and kids went outside while I took care of the check. Outside the restuarant is a great viewing area and was not crowded at all (Spring break week).

Wherer was your viewing area? Some people have told me that the balcony is not a Teppan Edo, but at Tokyo Dining, so you can't use it. Others seem to say it is for both.
I've read that one of the best places to watch Illuminations is near the Japan arc, so I will still try to squeeze in someone after my meal - also at 7:40!

rlahansler - where was your spot - on the roof/balcony or an outside area near the restaurant.

I don't think that's enough time. I would try to get an ADR for 30-60 minutes earlier.
