illuminations vs. wishes

which one do you think is better? im going up to disney on the 19th and i saw the wishes fireworks at mk in december, and i loved them. but ive never seen illuminations at epcot..does it compare to wishes? i cant figure out which one id rather see. any input is appreciated

Personally I LOVE Wishes and wouldn't miss it on a trip, sometimes I go 2 or 3 to see Wishes in one trip, but I also love Illuminations and if you've never seen it...you should! Isn't there any way you can do both? Illuminations one night and Wishes another?

Another idea if you have hopper passes, is to go to Illuminations on a SpectroMagic night at MK. Wishes is one hour later when they have the Spectro parade, so made you could watch Illuminations and then hop the monorail to MK to see Wishes?

They are very different types of shows. While Wishes is a fireworks show, Illuminations is more elaborate. They are both excellent nighttime spectaculars.

If it is a choice between the two shows I would not miss Wishes. Illuminations is also very good, but I can never see Wishes enough times on my trips. I think we saw it 4 times on our last trip!

If I had to choose, I'd choose Illuminations. I find it to be far more meaningful, and that makes the difference for me.

I too have always preferred Illuminations. I usually see it several times per trip. Wishes is a great show dont get me wrong, there is just something special about Illuminations to me.

They are both GREAT! But if you haven't seen Illuminations then I would say you really need to see it. To me, it is very powerful - sends a strong message if you really pay attention.

Absolutely ILLUMINATIONS! Every time I see it, I still get goosebumps. From the very beginning when they "blow" out the lights to start the show, to the ending with the song "We Go On". Hold on to a loved one because it makes it all the more better. JMHO!

Definitely Illuminations. I thought that show was better then wishes (it could just be the awesome spot we were sitting in though )

Illuminations is a must see! The musical score is much better by far! (Music is majorly important in my book!) It has a wonderful "storyline" to it as well that might be lost on some folks.
It begins with the single "meteor" and then things come to life. A real sense of creation and how the world came to be! If you read the names of the different movements of music you'll get the sense of this even better.
(Anybody got their CD jacket handy?)

It basically is a celebration of humans on the planet and how we have grown and communicate, and travel, and express ourselves through art.

It is truly amazing.

Wishes is quaint - typical Disney Magic and is great for the kid in us all. But Illuminations is still the one to top!

Both are fantastic but If I had to chose it would be Wishes...I know I'm an odd ball on this thread , but I love the sound track and I always watch it standing next to the statue of Walt...gives me goosebumps every time!

They are both wonderful. Try hard to see both.

Wishes is my favorite. Watching it with my family beside me brings tears to my eyes. I bought the soundtrack and listen to it often.

thank you all for your responses! im only going for one day (i can only afford little one day trips every 2 or 3 months lol) so i think im gonna try and see the illuminations, just because ive never seen them before, and they sound nice.
