Heading to Disney in early December with twin 1-year olds. I think for my wife and my one dinner alone where we hand the kids to the nanny we're going to try Bistro (one of the very few Epcot restaurants we haven't tried yet). Can you get a decent view of illuminations from Bistro? I'm deciding whether to make reservations to get us out before Illuminations or whether it's a good enough view that it would be nice to watch from there.

If there are views, how easy is it to try to get a window seat (which I assume would be necessary to see it!)

Yes...IF you are seated at a window table (there aren't many and I don't think you can guarantee seating at one) and you are willing to accept a decent view, not an excellent one.

You could try requesting a window table, but you may have to wait for one or they may tell you you need to take what is available.

It's an ok view. I would go for an early reservation to be out and enjoy illuminations from the ground. Keep in mind when making your reservation this is a sit back, time between courses, great place for you and the wife. The only way you get rushed is if you tell them you have some place to be.

One of our favorite spots! enjoy.

As mentioned, there are very few tables that have a view. I'd guess less than 10% of the seats in the restaurant have a real view out the window so don't get your hopes up.

Thanks! Think I'll go for the 7:30 which gives us a nice leisurely 2 hours for dinner (which by Disney standards is an eternity!). Looking forward to it - before the babies we did such commando trips and rarely just took time to relax.
