What is the best place to watch illuminations and what time do you have to get your spot? I will be by myself with dd's 3 and 6. Thanks!

That depends on when you're traveling. If you're there during a busy time -- summer, holidays, etc -- then you'll want to start scoping out a place about an hour and a half out. You don't have to SIT there for 90 mins, but you need to start seriously looking. Particularly if you want your daughters to stand right at the rail. If it's a major holiday -- J4, Christmas -- you'll need to bring a blanket and camp out for a couple of hours if you want "front row" viewing from a prime location.

My favorite viewing spots are the island in front of Italy, the area down the stairs in front of France, in front of UK or just to the right of the America Gardens stage. However ... wind is an important factor. Make sure it's not blowing in your face when you choose your spot. Because if that nice balmy Florida breeze is blowing directly at you, guess where all the fireworks smoke will be??

We sat on a bench right in front of Japan. Our family of four scoped out a sight (last Sept) about an hour before hand. The kids and I walked around while hubby watched our stuff and then I took a much needed break while he walked around a bit. It was a good spot for us because the kids could sit on the bench or stand by the railing in front of us without blocking someone else's view.

It's a long walk back around after the show but we made it better by stopping at the pastry shoppe in Norway for some treats. And, by the time we got to the monorail, there were no crowds.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all of the tips! We will be there Oct 17-20. Do we need to find a place about an hour before or so?
