Every time I've done Illuminations I've been standing somewhere, but especially at the end of the day I doubt the girlfriend will be able to pull that off. Other than the FastPass area, is there any kind of seating for Illuminations reserved for people who are unable to stand for long periods?

Unfortunately no. The areas for guest in wheelchairs and their parties do not have benches any more. I believe there aren't even any in the fastpass area either. You could try sitting over by the Germany Boat dock and will get an OK view but there is no guarantee that the area will be free when you get there.

When are you going? If it is during Wine and Dine know that there will be even fewer benches as many of them are removed to make room for standing tables or end up in VIP sections.

Your best bet would be to stake out a spot early and bring a blanket. Then she can sit on the ground by the railing if that is possible.

Thanks for the info. We'll be there November 14-18, in Epcot on the 15th.

I didn't know there were wheelchair areas. I'm pretty sure that I'll get a wheelchair or an ECV for her for Epcot; there's just too much walking to do there. Can you point me to some info on the wheelchair areas?

Outstanding, thanks. It may be that by the end of the day she'll not be up for Illuminations anyway, but it's good to know that there are options of some type.

They are marked on the guide maps. Not sure if the link below goes to a recent map or not.

Those are correct.

The spot between Germany and Italy is the best. If it is a night that Illuminations is happening the same time as Wishes or Holiday Wishes you will see the higher shots from MK in the distance right around Soarin'. It is my favorite spot to watch from actually. The spots at the front between the gift shops fill up fast and give a clear direct view. They get crowded though. The spot in Canada is the worst. About 50% of the area has an obstructed view due to a tree. It is often the least crowded.

I probably watched Illuminations 50-60 times from those spots as I worked the entrance to them for about 1.5 years.
