Not sure if this has been covered on this board or not, but there was an explosion relating to the Illuminations barge the other day.

As a result, it appears that the barge is "down for the count" for an INDEFINITE period of time. This really stinks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be down there in a few days, I hope to god most of the effects will still be there. Has anyone seen the show since it happened? Can you notice the difference?

Thanks

:confused3 ahhhhhhh I missed the show last time we were down cuz of our "company" :rolleyes1 now Ill miss it again maybe?! That really stinks!!

Geeze and I have an Illuminations cruse booked for my upcoming trip in 10 days. Wonder if it would be worth keeping it.

Where'd you hear that the barge part of the show will be down?

There is another thread going about this topic. The barge is out for a while, but hopefully can be repaired. No idea of when it might be back, though. A fellow DISer saw Illuminations last night and said it did not effect the show much. In fact, I believe he said that unless you were VERY familiar with the show, you would probably not notice it missing. I am pretty sure he also recommended keeping your Illuminations cruises.

I heard that it was just there normal release of extra propane that they do every night. Have to find out the truth. Anyone been to illuminations within the last couple of days? Maine :firefight

I did a search and it seems that the barge did have an accident. One of the shells exploded while it was still in the tube on the barge and did a lot of damage. The barg is out of the illuminations show indefinitely. Maine :firefight

Nooooooo! *stamping feet*

Hope it will be back by January.

DH and another couple who have never been to WDW are staying at BCV, and the whole point was so we could walk back to the resort after Illuminations.

I really hope this is fixed by then. I want our friends to really enjoy their first trip to the World.

This happened on Sept 19th at around 4 PM. It was not intentional and not the normal blow off they do every night. I saw on another board that the average person would not really notice a change in the show. I am glad no one was hurt and I hope it is fixed by December.

Illuminations is still on it is just the part where, I believe they call it the inferno barge, is supposed to play in that there is a slight "gap" but not that noticeable unless you are totally familiar with the show. Do a search on this subject. There was a couple of other threads this morning about this same topic.

Just bumping this up.
Does anybody know if the inferno barge is back yet?
Thanks! :sunny:

The othere threads mentioned several times, all indicate that the Inferno Barge will be out of commission for an extended period of time. I don't know what "extended" really means so speculating that it might be back in December or January, is just that - speculation. We will have to keep on top of this.
As others have said, to most it is barely noticiable, a slight gap in the action. It in no way will ruin your experience. Also it has been recommended to keep your Illuminations cruises. HTH

I was at Epcot when it happened. It was a HUGE explosion. But, I didn't notice anything different that night at the fireworks show.

Hopefully everything will fixed by November but at least it sounds like it is not having a great effect on the show.

John

It was a verified incident. There is a thread on the Disney News & Rumors board and further information at wdwmagic among other places. 95%+ of the show is unaffected, and it is definitely still worth seeing. The globe, the music and all or nearly all of the fireworks are still there. The big difference is in the very beginning and that you won't get your eyebrows singed by the fire.
