If you could see just one...what would you choose? My girls LOVE MK & the parade & fireworks there so we'll probably only get to see one other show...which would you choose? & with 2 kids would you try for a Illuminations cruise? or Fantasmic dinner package? or just get there & try to get a small spot? thanks

Fantasmic. Much more spectacular. Illuminatations is neat but pretty calm.

We're partial to Illuminations, but I could see how small kids might enjoy Fantasmic a little more.

With your kids fantasmic is probably the best option. That said Illuminations is my personal favorite at WDW. If it was up to me we would spend every night at Epcot ( but DH and DD wants to see some other shows once in a while ! :rotfl2: )

The good thing about the dinner package is that you don't have to stand in a crowded line - something that most children do not like. Illuminations are far easier to see, there are plenty of good spots to be had and lots to look at while you wait ( We miss the tapestry of dreams parade a LOT :confused3 )

21 days and counting..... :cool1: :sunny: :cheer2: :earboy2:

Definitely Fantasmic. We never do the dinner package. We get there at least an hour before the show starts and buy some snacks and people watch. The time goes fast.

Another vote for Fantasmic! For us, it is a must see every trip!

We stop at the Villain candy shop and load up (chocolate covered strawberries, etc) then we head in and wait. By the time we munch on our goodies, get a light up souvenir and do the wave with the crowd...it is time for the show!

I also vote Fantasmic. I know I may get slaughtered for this but please remember this is only MY opinion but, I never have really cared for illuminations. I don't know what it is about it but, it just never really did it for me. I love Fantasmic and Wishes is my absolute favorite nighttime entertainment. However, just something about Illuminations that I have never really cared for. Can't put my finger on it. :confused3

My vote is for illuminations. The actual show itself is probably better at fantasmic, however the lines and crowds deter me from ever going again. It wasn't worth the wait! I like to just stop where I am and see the show and then move along when it is done.

hmm, ok thanks everyone...I may wing it & see if we can find a spot for Fantasmic....I'm not sure I want to "waste" a dinner on a non-character thing (LOL can't belive I said that!). But if we can have a snack & hang till the show....

Oooh, looks like I'm in the minority but I have to say Illuminations cruise. Haven't heard of many unsatisfied customers with the Illuminations cruise. Though that could change after daring to post that it seems to be a winner! Have fun.

With two kids, I would definetly go with Fantasmic. If it's just me, I could watch Illuminations over and over all night long.

Another Fantasmic Fan! BEST SHOW EVER!! And by the way, skip the dinner package thing and just go at least 90 minutes early. You'll be glad you did. I've done it both ways.

Fantasmic!! my three boys love this and always :wizard:
want to see it more than once

I think the kids will enjoy Fantasmic much more than Illuminations.

Here's something radical no one has suggested: Do both on the one night you have available. I don't know when you are going, but during busy times, Fantasmic is performed twice a night, once @ 9:00 and again @ 10:30. See the MGM calendar for this month, for example.

So you could do Illuminations @ 9:00, watching from somewhere near the International Gateway, then catch the boat to MGM and easily make the 10:30 Fantasmic. (This crazy plan requires a ParkHopper, of course.)
