Illuminations How much longer will "it go on"?

Actually, I strongly disagree with this statement. WDW has a LOT of returning guests...even using the stat from earlier about 7 in 10 it might new to them, but you don't want to lose the other 3 guests. If Disney took a 30% hit in attendance it would be detrimental.

Not only do you have locals, you have a huge number of DVC owners and then you still have annual and bi-annual guests that are very consistent. Disney has to continue to change up their experiences, even if it is just rotating shows, etc.

I agree that Illuminations could go and maybe if it came back in another 5-10 years many people would appreciate it more.

You're absolutely right -- up to 75 percent of WDW guests are repeat visitors.

Totally agree!! If they did change illuminations, I do not feel it would be a huge upset. For those that have not seen it it won't be that devastating. Agreed it's a brilliant show ,but I truly think that after 11 years it is time for an update time to plus it!

I have seen illuminations 10+ times. The globe drives me crazy! Depending upon where you are, it is often hard to see the full effect. Also think it is a bit boring. I loved years ago when they highlighted each country with flashing lights on the buildings and country specific music. It really is time for a change!

I have had a change of heart after reading about all this Illuminations descent.
I will throw my weight behind your campaign.

Illuminations is by far my favorite nightime show at WDW. I have seen it dozens of times and never get tired of it.

Seems like from this thread you either love it or you don't. I'm in the don't group. It's a good show and I had never seen it until Sept. 2010 I read on here that it was the best and how great it was and I was let down. It's a good show but to me it's not even close to Fantasmic or Wishes. Better effects? Yes. Not a better show to me. To each his/her own though.

Edit: Also about the guests revisiting. I have been to the parks many times but all as a child up until 2010. Magic Kingdom was pretty much the same. But I was in amazement of the details I missed in EPCOT/DHS as a child. 2010 was also my first time going to DAK even though I had been to WDW many times. So I agree with the others life spans of shows/attractions should be long.

I think the globe could stand to be upgraded. I remember the first time I saw it I was so impressed by the images. Now with flat screen TVs so common, it doesn't seem quite so 'magical'.

I still love the show though!

It was upgraded about a year ago

I can';t even count how many times I have seen it-and love it each and every time. The music is incredible. I would hate to see it go.

Really?

I was there last June and it didn't seem any different than when i was there 2 years ago in april....

Yes the LED's were replaced with higher resolution ones (read= more, smaller LED's) as far as I know

I love Illuminations, and sure I'd hate to see it change, very much so. I would welcome a new show however, but for me it has a high mark to meet. Most of my love for it is in the music, it's so well done and orchestrated how can you not like it? I suppose most people are looking for a constantly high energy show with familiar music and characters, not a more worldly/cultural show. To each his own I guess.

For me it's not about wanting a more character based show I think that's what I love about illuminations And EPCOT as a whole. Not that I would need one ,but it's kinda a nice break from all the pixie dust and character magic. Epcots great because of its beauty and world theme. I just think it's time for a new nighttime spectacular that rivals the one that has been there for almost 12 years.

I am a fan still of Illuminations! yes it kind of gets old but still its a good show along with Fantasmic and Wishes.

This is still a huge win for Disney that keeps us coming back is the night shows, even though they are now making it a practice of showing Wishes and F! on limited nights.

I am sure TDO is looking at showing illuminations on selected nights. So thats what I am thinking of a big change for Epcots night shows Illuminations is showing 5 days a week.

I have no real love for Illuminations. Dull show.

This exactly. I'd rather skip it and walk on the rides. The music is ok, but I think the fireworks/laser show/globe are lame. Now, Fantasmic you can't pay me enough money to skip. Same thing with Wishes. And I am still holding a grudge against Disney for bringing MSEP back. The music is annoying! I'll be glad when (if... sniff sniff) Spectro comes back.

Spectromagic, may you rest in peace...honestly my most favorite parade I've ever seen. Also, probably the best music Disney has produced for a show/parade/etc.

Is spectro magic ever coming back?

The Main Street Electrical Parade currently running in the Magic Kingdom is the Disneyland edition of the parade, so it isn't staying permanently. Given Disney's track record, which seems more likely - Spectromagic returns, or they spend the money to create a new parade?

Yes, it will indeed be nice to see Spectromagic again.

Speaking of which, just what is the status of Walt Disney World's own Electrical Parade? Is it still in Hong Kong? Why leave it there, apparently never to be used?
