Illuminations Cruise questions

Hi All,

I'm planning on trying to book one of the pontoon boats and had a few questions.

1. Does the boat rock and move around a lot? My DH gets seasick pretty easily.

2. Are they really strict on bringing your own refreshments? I've heard both yes and no.

Thanks for your help. :earsgirl:

Don't know about the refreshments, but the boat seemed pretty steady to us. It's an oversized pond you're navigating, and if the wind is up enough to make significant waves, they'll probably cancel Illuminations anyway.

Two weeks ago we had a birthday cake and sodas on our cruise. Also brought our own plates, napkins, etc. I think they have no problems as long as you don't "go overboard"!

How long are you on the boat for? Is it easy to get on and off?

The cruises are approx. 1 hour. We left dock 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour before Illuminations and cruised down to MGM and back up around the Boardwalk before we parked under the bridge near the Int. gateway. After the show the boats go back to the Y&BC, but will drop off at the Boardwalk if you prefer.

The boats are easy to get on and off before and aft the cruise. But if you need to get off at some point in between, I'm sure the captain can accommodate.

I hope that answers your questions. :teeth:

we bought a bottle of wine in France and brought it aboard. We even coerced the CM in the wine shop to give us 4 "sample" glasses.

The corkscrew was a little more difficult. We eventually went to a shop on the Boardwalk to buy one.

Every boat had some sort of refreshment on it. I doubt its an issue unless you make a mess of the boat, or bring a grill and try to tailgate :smooth:

I appreciate all the info and help! I hear that the cruises sell out pretty fast but I'll give it my best shot. Hopefully I'll get lucky.

Aloha and Mahalo!

Good luck! Did you read the very top post on the Theme Parks Board --- it gives very specific instructions on how to call. There's also a link to post if you're looking to share a cruise.

I did take a look at the post. I live in Hawaii so I'll need to call at 1 am my time :o Hope I can stay awake!

Aloha!

My DH gets seasick VERY easily! He wears a motion sickness patch most of the time at WDW. The night we did the cruise, he didn't have the patch on and did NOT have any problems!

I thought the boat was as steady as the boats that take you to the parks. If your DH doesn't have problems with them he should be OK

We brought food and drinks with us on our cruise 12/23. We carried everything on in a softsided cooler. Nothing was said about it at all.

Our boat was very steady, and I hardly noticed any movement at all. I would just explain the situation to the captain ahead of time so your needs can be accomodated if necessary.
